Visiting Her Mrs. Lloyd Nicholson and children of Ft. Klamath arrived in the city Monday to spend ten days visiting at the home of Mrs. Nicholson's mother, Mrs. C. H. Young, 257 Beatty street. Visitors Leave Leaving the city Wednesday after a short visit at the home of their uncle and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Herendeen, 526 Haven street, were Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Daw son and Miss Frankie Skelton, of Eugene. Dawson recently re ceived an honorable discharge from the navy after service as a naval lieutenant. Sergeant Discharged Jack E. Young, formerly a staff sergeant in the air corps, has been honorably discharged from service at the Portland air base, a release from the base states. Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. El bert R. Young, 329 North River side avenue, served seven months overseas with the 389th bomb group in the European theater and wears the ETO rib bon with three battle stars, the air medal with two clusters and the purple heart: Hoffman Released E. M. Hoffman, former staff sergeant with the army air corps, was honorably discharged from service recently at the Portland air base, a news story from the base states. Hoffman, last sta tioned at Hammer Field, Fresno, is a son of Mrs. W. J. Ferns, Route 4, Box 220. Hoffman wears the American theater and American defense ribbons and the good conduct medal. He served as an aerial gunnery in structor and had been in the army since March, 1941. Visiting Here Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lewis, Chewelah, Wash., and Mrs. Charles Potts, Sprayue, Wash., are spending the week end in the city as guests at the home of their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Elliott, 312 King street. This is their first visit to Medford since leaving the city 39 years ago. Mr. Lewis and Mrs. Potts are the children of Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis, former Medford residents, and grandchildren of the late Sarah E. Hawlett, Eagle Point district. 3S A HIT! Dan Hull arrived in Medford this morning to spend a 53-day fur lough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hull. 517 South Crape street. Sgt. Hull spent 13 months in France with the 166th General Hospital. Veterans Home Reporting to selective service board No. 1 yesterday following honorable discharge from the service were Max J. Barraclough, Phillip A Beers, Forest M. Bryant, Edward M. Coady, Claire L. Conaway, Clarence J. Conner, and Robert L. Glathar. Oliver Home Pfc. Harry L. Oliver arrived in Medford yes terday to spend a 50-day fur lough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Oliver of Trail, before reporting to Ft. Bliss, Tex. Oliver has served in the aimy for three years and was stationed for several months in China with the 666th anti-aircraft machine- gun battery. Released From Hospital Now at the home of his brother and his wife, Fire Chief and Mrs. Roy Elliott, is James El liott who has been released from Medford Community Hospital where he spent 69 days after suffering a broken leg while visiting here. Mr. Elliott will re main several days more before returning to his home in Kansas where he is employed as a rural mail carrier. Elliott came here in September to visit his brother for a few weeks, and suffered the broken leg in an accident. Minger Discharged Former SSgt. Clyde L. Minger has re turned to the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Minger, 2117 Capital avenue, following an honorable discharge from the army Nov. 2 at Ft. Lewis, Wash. Minger enlisted in the service Dec. 8, 1941, at Quincy, 111., and left for overseas serv ice with the air force in Dec, 1942, where he served as a pro peller specialist in Africa Sicily, Italy, Corsica, France and Germany. Sgt. Minger was a member of the 524th fighter squadron of the 27th fighter group, which received five presidential unit citations. The Mingers have five other sons in the service.
