HEDGES Chiropractic 8c Naturopathic Physician 128 E. Main Dial 3170 . SINUSITIS A It seems that sinus trouble is becoming more common. Most sinus troubles are catarrhal con ditions. While smoking is usual ly considered the cause of sinu sitis, it can and usually does if excessive, serve to aggravate this condition. Smoking natural ly irritates mucous membrane. This irritation causes an increas ed secretion from the mucous surface of the sinuses. The secre tions become thicker, gradually accumulate in the sinuses, con gestion occurs, drainage is inter fered with and pressure results. In treating sinusitis the general mistake is in considering sinus trouble as a local disturbance. This leads to the use of sprays and inhalations. Sinusitis de velops from a systemic back ground. Nature cure methods, at tacking it along this line, offer the best chances for Its success ful treatment. L G. Knapp of Talent INFLATION HAS POLITICAL BASE SAYS RUKEYSER Merryle Stanley Rukeyser, New York economist and author, who will address the Rogue Riv er Valley Knife and Fork club November 18 at Roosevel't school, today denied that war time inflation is inevitable. He declared that inflation results from a tendency of politicians to Merryls Rukeyser pursue the easiest way, rather than to face the realities boldly Mr. Rukeyser, author of the much-discussed book entitled "Financial Security in a Chang ing World" and of a daily syn dicated economic column, point ed out that inflation enables timid politicians to for a time run in opposite directons at the same time. Thus It is a tool for propitiating pressure groups at the expense of piling up an im mense deferred cost which all citizens ultimately have to bear "There Js increasing talk," Mr. Rukeyser said, "of controlling Inflation. "The problem l not baffling when expressed in the oretical terms, but the difficulty lies In the political sphere. "For the blunt truth is that that generally denounced phe nonomen, namely, inflation, does temporarily at least serve politi cal ends. SO Servicemen To Get Acre of Land Sunbury, Pa. (U.R) At least one local business man thinks the Civil War promise of "40 acres and a mule" wasn't such a bad idea. Because of a scarcity of mules however, the unidentified philan thropist can't exactly repeat the old offer. But he has advertised that he will give 50 servicemen an acre of land each. Veterans must prove they are "married and reliable and agree to build homei on the land. Five plants are in operation for production of helium, the non-inflammable lighter than -air gas.
