After two Washington drives carried to within inches of the OSC goal line in the last half and a third offensive gave the Huskies a 6-0 lead in the fourth period, OSC's freshman halfback opened up with a scries of flat passes that won the ball game. Starting from his own 31, Gray rifled a passgood for seven yards, following it with a second that went to Washington's 45. Switching to a ground attack. Quarterback Kuramanos fed the ball through the Washington lino to the Husky 35. ' Gray shot a pass to Right Half Hartmun who twisted his way to Washington's 26. With the stunned Huskies set for another pass, Gray tucked tho leather under one arm and galloped through right guard to Washington's 10. Dec. 10 U.R) Washington State College came from behind in the final neriod to dump the University of Oregon 20 to 13 before 7.000 football fans here today, and in the process galloping Bill Lip pincott gave Oregon's Jake Leicht a lesson in gridiron science. Trailing 6 to 13 when the final period opened the Cougars capitalized on a blocked punt for the tying touchdown and followed their star halfbacV Lippincott, 13 yards to tho one foot line, from where Eggers plunged over with the winning tally midway through the period. Oregon's first touchdown came one minute before the in itial period ended, when back Donovan plunged over from the 4 yard line. Lelcht's 'pass to end Anderson on the eight yard line set up the following two plays to pay dirt. Leicht tried to run for the extra point but was pushed out of bounds. Shortly after the second per iod opened, WSC's back Eckert, made a spectacular 51 yard run down the sidelines before being hauled down on Oregon's 10. A shoving penalty sent the Cou gars back to the 25, but Lippin cott looped a beautiful pass into the waiting arms of substitute end Brown, who stood in the end zone and pulled it in. Wal ler's try for the extra point went wide. Three minutes later, Leicht uncorked a long pass to Ander son in WSC's end zone and Kaufman's conversion was good, giving Oregon a 13-8 margin at half time. Washington State found its stride in the opening minutes of the final quarter after tackle Rod Giske blocked Gillis' punt on the Oregon eight yard line. Coaching from the sidelines, an Oregon blunder, brought the ball to the one yard stripe and from there Eckert plunged over his left tackle for a touchdown. Reserve fullback Coolcy booted the tying conversion. Lippincott again paced the Cougars to the winning touch down a few minutes later when he sneaked off center and drag ged fhree Oregon tacklers 13 yards to the one foot line. On the next play, Eggers took the ball over on a quarterback sneak. Cooley again converted and placed the game on ice for WSC. USC completely dominuted the play in a dull game, USC's second victory over California, the first coming in an equally uninspired contest at Berkeley earlier this season. The victory left the winners in the race for the Rose Bowl bid, with their final contest against the University of California at Los Angeles likely to decide the west coast representative for the New Year's day game. Ted Kenficld sparked the northern team to a slightly more diversified offense than it has shown in most other games, but the visitors were unable to gain with any consistency. USC meanwhile was able to capitalize only two of its many scoring opportunities with fum bles and other mlsplays prevent ing any sustained attack. Closing time ror Classified Ads 8-31; 4 m.
