Paudois Home Marcel Pau dois, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jules Paudois, route 1, Central Point, returned home this week from Santa Ana, Calif., air base where he received an honorable dis charge from the army air curps after 44 months in the service Paudois, who held the rank of corporal, was stationed in the Pacific theater 35 months with a medical detachment of the 7th air force and received two bronze battle stars. Arrive Here Mrs. John Snider and two children, Doug las and John, Jr., and Mrs. Snider's mother, Mrs. Mary Oliver, have arrived in Medford from Colorado Springs, Colo., and pending the location f a home are visiting with Mrs. Snider's mother - in - law, Mrs. Maude M. Snider, 528 Pe.nn.syl vania avenue. Mrs. Snider's husband, a sergeant in the aimy, is remaining in Colorado but ex pects to be released from service soon. Reports Theft A saxaphone valued at $173 and a man's jacket, belonging to Floyd Wal den, 335 Edwards street, were reported to local police as stolen last night between 8 and 8.45 o'clock. Bicycles Stolen James Wint terle, 1247 Saling avenue, te ported to city police this morn ing the theft of his bicycle, license No. 1814, from a local theater last night. Another bi cycle theft was reported yester day by Larry Fisher, route 3, who told police his Columbia bicycle had been stolen from Lincoln school Tuesday night. Car Thefts A 1935 Ford coupe, belonging to B. L. Nut ting, Jr., 31 Glen Oak court, was reported stolen at about 10:30 o'clock last night from East Main street, according to a state police report. Recovery of the vehicle has not been made, police said. Also reported stolen and recov ered before the owner was aware of the theft, was a 1937 sedan belonging to Clyde Martin, route 1, box 404. The car was reported stolen from Martin's home about 6 a. m. today ar.d abandoned later on North River side avenue, where it was found by state police officers. ' LIttrell Home Veteran of 21 months service in the European theater and almost four years in the army. Harold R. Littrnll arrived home Sunday following an nonorable discharge from the service. Holding a staff ser geant rating, Littrell served with the 28th division of the first army and later was station ed with the militarv prvprnmnt of the 7th army, in charge ,of the German atrocity camp at Buchenwald. Littrell, who re ceived five bronze battle stars, graduated from Medford high school shortly before entering the army, He is a son of Mrs. E. A. Littrell, 1315 Queen Anne avenue, and E. A. Littrell, Haw thorne apartments. Hughes Discharged Frank R. Hughes returned to Medlord Sunday from Ft. Lewis, Wish., where he received an honoraole I discharge from the army Oct 20 I after 20 months service. Hughes, J a technician, fourth grade, with ; the 18th infantry of the first ii- vision, was stationed in the ! European theater 14 months and I received the bronze star, the presidential unit citation with two oak leaf clusters, good con duct medal and the European theater ribbon with three battle stars. The first division also was awarded a French decoration. Hughes formerly served as man ager of Groceteria No. 2 and worked for a Portland firm be fore entering the army. SOLD TO FURRER Sale of the Crater Lake Motor company's building, at the cor ner of Sixth and Ivy streets, to Ralph Furrer was announced to day. Furrer will take possession of the building when the new Crater Lake Motor company building is ready for occupation. Furrer, who will handle ex clusive agency for Hudson ct.rs, plans a 24-hour garage, service station and car storage business. Plans are under way to com pletely remodel and redecorate the building after the rora agency is moved to it's new lo cation around first of the year. Furrer said today he has re signed as district manager of the Medford offices of National Hospital association and has dis posed of his orchard holdings. OBITUARY BETTIE SELLARS Bettie Sellars passed away at a local hospital Wednesday. Mrs. Sellars was born in Rich land, Tex., Oct 17, 1868. She leaves to mourn her pass ing two daughters, Mrs. Tom Corn, Medford, Mrs. Merle Step onovich, Hawthorne, Calif., and one son, Edward Sellars, West wood, Calif., one sister, Mandy Swink, Richland, Tex.; also seven grandchildren. Remains will be sent to Chick asha, Okla., for final rites, Pirl Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements here. EUGENE NOWLIN Eugene Nowlin, 48, passed away suddenly at his home on Spring street, Wednesday eve ning due to a heart ailment. Mr. Nowlin was associated with Mr. Gage in the Gage Elec tric Motor Service, Inc. in Med ford. He was formerly connected with United Motors, the electric branch of General Motors and traveled extensively for that firm. He had followed the elec tric business since a young man. Mr. and Mrs. Nowlin tmveled all the United States and Alas ka. He was a great lover of out door sports and was held in high esteem where ever he was known. He was born in Lapeer coun ty, Michigan, Feb. 14, 1897. Be sides his wife, Madge Nowlin, he leaves a daughter, Winona Jean Nowlin at home, one broth er, Ray Nowlin of Mayville Mich., and a sister, Mrs. Celia Magennis of Detroit. Trading stepped up to the most active pace since June 28 this year. On today's upswing the Dow Jones average of 65 stocks reach ed the highest level since com pilation was begun Nov. 1933. Industrial stocks made a new high since Aug. 17, 1937, while Utilities were at the highest peak since Jan. 18, 1937. Rails were still under their best levels for this year although sharply higher on the day. Nelson, 1021 West Second street, was involved in a truck accident at Williamson Bridge in Klamath county last week, it was learned here today. Nelson taking a load of fruit from Med ford to Fort Klamath, suffered minor acid burns on his face but was otherwise uninjured when the steering rod came loose. The truck upset, completely demolishing the load of fruit and causing about $65 damage to the truck, Nelson said when he re turned here yesterday. High School Class Boasts Decorations Santa Ana, Cal.
