Oliver Home Herman P. Oli ver, former torpeuoman's mate second class in the navy, has re turned home after serving three and one-half years in the Pacific on the submarines Greenling and Sand Lance. He was discharged in Seattle and from there went to Warren, R. I., returning to the west .coast accompanied by his wife. Oliver is the son of Rlr. and Mrs. E. H. Oliver of Trail. Unit To Meet Griffin Creek Home Economics Extension unit will hold an all-day session Fri day, Nov. 2, at the home of Mrs, M. E. Harper, South Columbus avenue. The subject will be "Sugar Extending Cookery." A covered dish luncheon will be served at noon. Wiley Released Harlan Wiley has been honorably discharged from naval service at the separa tion center, Bainbridge, Mary land, according to a news release from the center. Wiley, whose rating was chief classification in terviewer, was last stationed at the naval air base at Anacostia, D. C. Mrs. Wiley has been mak ing her home at 305 Beatty street. Six Returns Jack Six, former flight officer In the air corps, has returned to Medford from Portland where he received his discharge from the army. He will be assiciated with the Perl Funeral Home until March at which time he will enter the California Mortuary College. Six is the grandson of John Perl. Mr. Six and his wife, the former Colleen Stephenson, and their daughter, Theresa, will reside in an apartment at the funeral home. Gilbert Discharged Elmer D. Gilbert of Klamath Falls, Ore., and a son of Van R. Gilbert, 135 North Holly street, has been hon orably discharged from the army air corps at Portland, a news re lease states. Gilbert, who held the rank of corporal, served for the past three and one-half years as a cargo handler, 30 months of this time being overseas with the seventh air force in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. He wears the good conduct medal in addition to the Asiatic-Pacific theater rib bon. Glascock Discharged Leo Glascock, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Glascock, 264 Beatty street, was honorably discharged from the navy Oct. 14 and with his wife has been visiting in the city. Glascock, an aviation radio technician, 2c, served three years in the navy and two months in England. Mr. and Mrs. Glascock returned this week to their former home in Dunsmuir, Calif., where he is to return to his work as district accountant with the California-Oregon Pow er company. a Brays Return Returning this week from a four days fishing trip on the Chetco and Smith rivers near the coast, were Dr. J. P. Bray, his son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Max Bray of Los Angeles, and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. William E. Bray of Kansas City, Mo., whose husband is a chaplain stationed on Saipan. Max Bray, president of the Bray Optical company in Los Angeles, has returned to his home and his wife is visiting at the Bray home on Lozier Lane. Fishing was reported good and the party returned wtih five salmon. Dr. Bray plans to return to his of fice at the Medford Center build ing Monday, ending a vacation of several weeks. FIRST JURY TRIAL OF OCTOBER COURT NOV. 13 First jury trial of the October term of court is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13, inasmuch as Monday is Armistice day and a legal holiday this year. THURSDAY Christian Science services will be held at the Perl Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. for Ada Walter Rena Hubbard, who passed away Monday at the home of her son, Chester A. Hubbard. 2451 Lyman avenue. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park. I Mrs. Hubbard was born at Jacksonville, Aug. 24. 1877. She had spent her entire life in this vicinity and was well known to a large host of friends through out the valley. She was a member of Medford Chapter of Eastern Star and the Medford Garden Club. Survivors include two sons. Roland A. Hubbard and Chester A. Hubbard of Medford; two sisters, Mrs. Wallace Woods, Santa Cruz, Calif., and Mrs. Fannie Armstrong, Plainsfield, N. J., also four grandchildren. Boy Scout News Court of Honor Boy Scout Troop Two held a court of honor Tuesday evening at the Lincoln gym. The court was opened by C. D. Griffiths, scoutmaster, who acted as chair man, and he was assisted by H. J. Ylvisaker as clerk. Presenta tion of colors, pledge to the flag, the Scout oath and laws were conducted by Dick Hake, junior assistant scoutmaster. The reviewing court was com posed of Seth Bullis, Eugene Thorndike and Eldon Drysdale, scout officials, K. J. Knutson, troop committeeman and Cub master Al. Lindquist of Pack Two. Kenneth Kohn and Lloyd Dyer were awarded the second class honor by Mr. Bullis. une first class award was made to Harlan Bosworth by Mr. Drysdale and he also presented a mothers' pin to Mrs. Bosworth. Eugene Thorndike made an in teresting talk on Scouting and he complimented the troop on its ime work in the past. Merit badges were given to Ted Sidwell, carpentry; Leonard Gillin, handicraft, and Lytle Gil lin, handicraft and woodwork These were presented by Mr. inorndike. Special awards were made by lur. js.nutson to Robert Pitts and Charles Wagner, who received second-year perfect attendance bars and to Dick Simonson, who was presented a one-year perfect auenaance pin. Scoutmaster Griffiths awarded a senior patrol leaders' badge to Robert Pitts and a scribe's badce to Billy Dailey. He also pre sented io one-year service stars.
