A. Neathamer of 509 Austin
atreet was discharged from the
army at McClellan Field, Calif.,
recently after three and one-half
years of service with the army
air forces, a release from the
field states. Sgt. Neathamer was
last stationed at the air field at
Laredo, Tex., where he was an
' engineer. The sergeant's wile,
l Mabel, resides at the Austin

Dudley, Marsh Lane, a patir-nt
at Sacred Heart hospital, is con
valescing satisfactorily, relatives
report. Mrs. Dudley's brother,
Floyd Dunn of Olympia, Wash.,
is reported to be seriously ill in
an Olympia hospital, where he
recently underwent major sur
gery. Mother of Mrs. Dudley
and Mr. Dunn is Mrs. Katie
Dunn, Marsh Lane.

a 1939 Chevrolet pickup driven

AT KIWANIS MEET
Highlights of the formal sign
ing of the peace treaties aboard
the battleship Missouri, which
ended the Japanese war, were
given by Capt. B. N. Ahl, navy
medical officer, at the meeting
of the Medford Kiwanis club yes
terday at noon. Capt. Ahl is ex
ecutive officer for the Camp
White naval hospital.
The captain also related other
interesting events of the war, be
ginning with the Pearl Harbor
disaster and concluding with the
arrival of the Missouri, on which
he was stationed, In Tokyo bay
at the end of hostilities, A num
ber of photographs were display
ed by the officer.
He was introduced by Don
Newbury, program chairman of
the club.

Mrs. Blakeley, who had lived
In Medford 40 years, was a
former county treasurer, haing
served from 1915 to 1919, nd
prior to that was an accountant
in the office of the county rec
order. For the past 24 years she
had been an accountant and of
fice manager for the Medford
Mail-Tribune.
Mrs. Blakeley leaves to mourn
ber passing one daughter, Nina
F. Blakeley, Medford; one broth
er, Etna W. Wall, Medford, and
one sister, Mrs. O. E. Blacking-
ton of Woodside, Calif., as well
as a number of nieces and
nephews.
The deceased was a native of
Nebraska, having been born at
.Niobrara April 22, 1887.
