arrive In Paris after D-Day. Lt.
Gill is on terminal leave, hav
ing Just been released from the
army nurse corps in which she
enlisted nearly three years ago.
Promoted Robert Hubbard of
Medford has been promoted to
first lieutenant according to In
formation received by his par
ents. Mr. and Mrs. Roland A. I
Hubbard. 828 Minnesota avenue. ,
First Lt. Hubbard, lead navigator
and an administrative officer for
a C47 transport group which has
been operating from a Philippine
Island base for many months,
has been overseas about a year.
Before the end of the war the
group was engaged in transport
ing of supplies to the island and
wounded men back to the United
States. In his last letter the offi
cer wrote that he had just re
turned from a flight to Tokyo
and that his next trip would be
Australia.

RAIN DELAYS PICKING
OF VALLEY PEAR CROP
Rain that fell generally over
the Rogue river valley yesterday
and last night halted pear pick
ing, now in its final stages. Pack
ing plants today were catching
up with the overflow. The ram
was beneficial to recently sown
orchard crops and to grain al
ready seeded.
Last night the honking of
geese and ducks was heard over
the city as they headed south
in large bands. The signal sent
number of local hunters to
Klamath county for expected
improved shooting.
