President Abe J. Greene of the National Boxing Association predicted today that the revival of title competition would ele vate boxing from a "purely cash register racket" to its pre-war status as a genuine sport. Kept Sport Going He said boxing during the war period had been generally a process of "matching 8nd mis . matching only by the register of the greatest box office draw." This enabled mediocre talent to play to fantastic houses while champions and leading contend ers were in service. There was no sporting reason for most of these bouts, he stressed, except to keep boxing "going." Supplies of shotgun shells for civilian use have been extreme ly short and the, return of this ammunition to dealers' shelves in time for the hunting seasons will be welcomed by sportsmen the country over. The shells will also be useful to farmers and ranchers for crop and livestock protection.
