LOCAL and PERSONAL Bicycle Stolen Francis Fann, route 2, reported to local police yesterday the theft of his black World bicycle, license No. 84, from a local packing house. Building Application An ap plication for a building permit was m&de Friday at the office of the city superintendent by Ed Moss, 502 South Ivy street, to erect a garage costing $1,500. Visit From South Misses Vio let and Dortha Chappell of Auburn, Calif., are in the city visiting at the home of their grandmother, Mrs. Emma Per kins. Younger moved this week from their home at 611 West Eighth street to the new family residence at 48 North Orange street. In Hospital E. Carl Bennett, Sr., 343 South Grape street, is expected to return to his home next week from Sacred Heart hospital, where he is confined with a foot infection. It is re ported that Mr. Bennett is re covering nicely and is permitted to have visitors. Ford Home Hugo L. Ford, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Ford, arrived at the family home at 1114 West. Eighth street Wed nesday from Ft. Lewis where lie received an honorable discharge from the service after three and one-half years. Ford served two years with a bomb disposal group In the European theater and was awarded four bronze battle stars. He arrived in the States Sept. 19 on the Queen Elizabeth. Officer Home Capt. W. H. Leever, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Leever, Old Stage road, arrived home this week on four months' leave following his return to tne United States from the European theater. Capt. Leever, who has spent three years of 46 months service overseas with the 7th army, received the bronze star for gallantry In action while crossing the Rhine and five bronze battle stars. Upon ex piration of his leave here Leever will report to Ft. Lewis, Wr-sh., where he expects to receive an honorable discharge from the service. Conley Promoted Promotion of Ensign Benny Conley of the merchant marine corps to his present rank was learned this week by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Conley, route 1. En sign Conley, who was promoted from a chief petty officer, entered the merchant marine in September, 1944 and is ii'.iw stationed at San Pedro, Calif., awaiting transfer to Honolulu. Lewis. Extension Meeting Oakgrove Extension unit will meet Tues day at 11 a. m. at the home of Mrs. George White, Perrydale avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Graham reside on Cottage street. Cox Promoted Reed Cox, with the 101st Airborne division in France, has been promoted to corporal according to informa tion received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cox, 336 Mae street. Cox, who has been in Europe since March, was In Ger many for a time. He expects to return home in December. Cnl. Cox' wife and daughter live in Bliss, Ida. Unit To Meet Medford Home Extension unit will meet Wed nesday at the housing unit on Prlddy avenue, the session to begin at 10:30 a. m. Miss Marian Farrell, county home de monstration unit, will speak on "Developing Good Taste in Clothing." Members are asked to bring a sack lunch and coffee will be served. Anyone inter ested Is invited to attend und those desiring further informa tion may call Mrs. Roy Guyer, 5842. Robinson's Kin To Reside in Medford Mr. and Mrs. Lyman W. Rob inson and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Armond arrived in Medford Tuesday from Bremerton, Wash., and plan to make their hiimes in the city. Robinson, former chief yeoman in the navy, and son of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Robinson, 18 Hawthorne avenue, received an honorable discharge recently after three years in the navy, two of which were spent overseas. Mrs. Armond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Robinson, and her husband have been making their home in Bremerton where he was employed at the Puget Sound navy yard. Both couples expect to enter business with Mr. and Mrs. George Robinson at Hunt's Ice Cream Parlor. Mr. and Mrs. George Robinson plan to leave soon for a month's vacation in Great Falls, Mont., their former home. Sunday. Hamilton, well known Medford service station man with a background of 12 years in this business in Medford, has assumed management of the Union Oil Service Station at Fifth and Riv erside streets. Hamilton has been associated with Hawkinson Tire Tread Service for the past 10 years. The new company will feature tires, recapping, acces sories and general automotive service. The Union Oil Service Station will open under his management this week. Mr. Hamilton has two sons in the service, Harper, Jr., now being stationed on Tinian island as a bombardier on a B-29, and Robert serving in the Pa cific on a destroyer escort.
