TEN MEDFORD MAIL-TRIBUNE Your Hsalth and It's Care Br DR. WILLIAM BRADY M.D. Rader thould address Inquiries toi Dr William Brady. 265 CI Camloo BoTorly Hilli. Calif. TEETH TO Q She cannot seem to get help from any doctor for paralyzed eyelids or droopy lids. One lid Is completely down and the other halfway down. The focus is wrong but the eye sight is O.K. Twenty-six of her teeth were sound but were removed to see if it would help. It didn't help a bit . . . (K.H.G.) Drooping eyelid (doctors call it ptosis) usually affects both up per lids, tfibugh one lid may droop more than the other. If the condition is congenital (present at birth) the lids of both eyes droop and only operation which connects the lids with the muscles that elevate the brows will correct the. trouble. In some cases of ptosis of only one lid the condition may be from pa ralysis and with medical treat ment it may be remedied in the course of a few months. . In any case if the lid droops enough to partially cover the pupils, so that tho individual has to throw back the head to get clear vision or to see out from under the drooping lid, some sort of operation should be done. This operation may be done under local anesthesia, painless ly. It involves no risk to the eyes or eyesight. The correspondent states that "twenty-six of her teeth were sound but were removed to see if it would help. It didn't help a bit." By way of compensation for that atrocity thirteen teeth of the doctor who conspired to perpe trate that crime should be re moved to see if it would help, that is, if two such preposterous mountebanks can muster that many teeth between them. This shocking malpractice, whether committed by the doctor or by the dentist or by both in collusion, calls for a drastic rem edy. A lawsuit for damages in a reasonable sum never less than $1000 per tooth seems In dicated. If my teeth were in volved you betcha there would be such a suit. Mind, now, I do not believe or Imply that extraction of one or, rarely, more than one tooth, may not be the best treatment for this or that condition which, in the judgment of a physician and a dentist, Is due to focal infection. S, 1945 AMBLE WITH I do believe and say that It is never Justifiable to remove such a tooth or teeth in the circum stance unless the doctor and den tist have first considered the question in consultation and agreed upon the sacrifice of the tooth or teeth. I wish people would not tell me these things. I shudder every time that statement recurs to mind: "Twenty-six of her teeth were sound but were removed to see' if it would help."
