Carson, 107 Manzanita st'eet, have been given honorable dis charges at the Fort Lewis sep aration center, according to a news release received from the center. Wr!iht Horns Lt. Richard Wright and Mrs. Wright arrived in Medford Monday after resid ing the past year in Midland, Tex., and Carlsbad, N. M., where the officer was an instructor in the army air corps. He has been placed on inactive duty and will return to the staff of the J C. Penney company here. Previous to the Texas and New Mexico oionments the officer served in the European theater of war for seven montns as a Domoaraier. The Wrights make their home at 514 Franquette street. The serv ices are non-denominational t.ndi are sponsored by the Sams Val ley Sunday school. Receives Purple Heart Pfc. Tracy J. Muse, husband of Mrs. Gladys Muse, Central Point, has been awarded the purple heart medal for wounds received in action May 17, on Okinawa while with the 6th marine divi sion. Pfc. Muse, who landed on Okinawa on D-day, entered the marine corps in August, 1943, and embarked for overseas serv ice last December. Fanger Discharged Veteran of two years service with the army, Franklyn H. Fanger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fanger. box 57, Jacksonville star route, has arrived home from McClel lan field, Calif., where he receiv ed an honorable discharge from the army air corps. As a tech nical sergeant, Fanger served in the European theater with the 450th bomb group six months and received the air mednl and silver star for 50 combat mis sions. In California Mrs. D. A. Par ker of 528 Crater Lake avenue is in Oakland, Calif., to visit her mother, Mrs. A. M. Richards, and also her husband who re cently returned to this country after more than four years over seas duty with the navy. Parker, who served in New Zealand and other war zones, has been in the naval hospital at San Leandro. Calif., and is to be discharged in the near future through the San Diego base. At present he is visiting at the Richards home in Oakland. Autos Collide Cars operated by Winford Thomas. McClellan field, Calif., and Ted Sletten, Phoenix, collided at the corner of Main and Front street yester day afternoon causing consider able damage to Thomas' auto, city police reported today. An other accident occurred yester day at the intersection of Third and Front streets when cars op erated by Clarence A. Williams, route 4, and SSgt. Easley A. Jenkins, route 1, collided caus ing some damage to both autos, according to accident reports filed with city police. SAL Inducted Laurence Madden Hayes and Henry Arthur Col lier were inducted into the army Sept. 19 at Ft. Lewis. Wash., Jackson county selective service board No. 1 reported today. Visitori Leave Mr. and Mrs. Ford Hills, former residents of Medford, have returned to their home in Alameda. Calif., after a visit here with Mr. Hill's moth-i er, Mrs. Kate Hills. 525 West Tenth street. They returned to their home via the Redwood highway. . Friday and continuing through Saturday. A food sale will be held Saturday morning beginning at 9 o'clock. Cooley Here Del Cooley, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Cooley, 628 Palm street, is spending a few days with his parents before continuing to Corvallis where he will re-enter Oregon State college as a sophomore. Cooley, former lieutenant in the air corps, Is in the city on terminal leave after two and one-half years with the army. Gantenbeins Here Mr. and Mrs. C. James Gantenbein were guests last week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Beck, Old Stage Road. Gantenbein was released from the navy urder the point system last week. He is a former Medford and Central Pbint high school student and with his wife will now make his home in Lakeview. Thompson Home John Gray Thompson, SM 1c, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Thompson of Central Point, arrived in the val ley last night from the Atlantic coast. He has been overseas for 31 months. Saturday the wed ding of Miss Norrene Bohnert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arn old Bohnert, Central Point, to Mr. Thompson will take place at the First Christian church in Medford. Childs, 334 South Grape street, $150, to reshingle residence. Edwards Home Mertz "Red" L. Edwards returned to Medford last week following an honor able discharge Sept. 17 from the army at Ft. Lewis, Wash. Ed wards, a sergeant with the air corps, served two and one-half years, of three and one-half years in the service, in the' Afri can, Italian, Sicilian, and China-Burma-India theaters. He was awarded four bronze battle stars, the good conduct medal and service ribbons. Residing at 406 South Riverside avenue, Ed wards has returned to his former position at Valentine's cafe, 5 South Riverside avenue.
