night for treatment of injuries

city police reported today. The
boy collided with a parked car

juries, the report stated. Todd
is reported in an improved con

Rear Adm. Cecil Harcourt, Brit
ain's military governor of Hong
Kong, assured the captured Jap
anese garrison today that they
would get a full dose of toil,
sweat and tears until they have
cleaned up the mess they made
of this once-flourishing British
colony.
Harcourt set the Japanese to
work cleaning the streets of
their own prison camps and re
storing plumbing facilities in the
city's public buildings, and he
told a press conference they
would keep at it until the Job is
done.
"We're- treating them within
the rules, but their life is hard,"
Harcourt said. "Frankly, I would
not want to be a Jap prisoner."
