ONE GOOD TOOTH We're still talking about the prophylaxis (prevention) oi so called pyorrhea. My subject is strictly hy g i e n e and health, and I assure you that the condition of your jaws, tooth sockets, gums, diges tive (salivary) glands and teeth is para mount in de termining your health, effici Dr. Brady evity. Believ e teachings have ency and long It or not, my considerable in- fluence upon the public health. It takes something extraordi nary to shock or jolt me, I mean in the letters I get from readers. It happened the other day, like this: Dear Dr. Brady, Please tell me what to do for chronic rheumatism? I have had it for about three years. When I asked the doctor here about it he said I had better have my teeth pulled. I had twenty-three teeth pulled they were nearly all in good condition, the dentist found. But it made no difference In the rheumatism. In fact it has gotten worse if anything. (Signed) . . . Just like that. I suppose the vic tim is not more ignorant than most laymen about the teeth, but the shocking part of it is the way the doctor and the dentist perpe trated the malpractice on the vic tim. It is criminal malpractice, in my opinion, when a doctor gives a patient such advice. There may be some justification for extract ing a tooth or even two or three teeth when physician and dentist find reason to believe the tooth or teeth to be damaged by decay for infection beyond hope of re pair or when the physician be lieves the patient is suffering! Charles McLallen Aboard USS Gwin In Tokyo Bay Trip Charles McLallen, Jr., GM3C, is serving aboard the USS Gwin in the Pacific theater, according to word received by his wife, Louise, who resides on Griffin Creek road. The comparatively new vessel saw action in several major Pacific campaigns and several times was attacked by Japanese sui cide planes but was struck only once by a Kamikaze while on duty oif Okinawa. A short time was spent in repairs before the vessel was again sent out on radar picket duty. Odell A. Garrison Has Part in Many Pacific Campaigns Odel A. Garrison, Slc. has been aboard the USS Columbia during action in the Pacific thea ter of operations, according to a letter received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Garrison, route 4. box 383B.
