Rationing Boards
Due For Reduction
Local war price and rationing
boards in the Portland OPA dis
trict will be reduced from 83 to
65 area price boards by the end
of September Harry E. Hcarnc,
assisting OPA board executive,
announced today. Medford is
not to be affected, according to
the statement.
Reorganization and consolida
tion will continue after Septem
ber until January 1 when it is
anticipated the 65 boards will be
reduced about one-half. With
gradual termination of rationing
programs, the local boards will
concentrate largely on price con
trol during the coming year in
an effort to head off the infla
tion which followed the last war,
Hearne said.

WEAKER SEX?
Los Angeles, Sept. 12 U.R
Slight, 19-year-old Doris Derr
was in jail today charged with
purst snatching, and two rugged

the battle she put up against
arrest. After allegedly taking a

M. Fitzslmmons, Mrs. Derr
fought the two policemen almost
to a standstill. Then she tore
the uniform from a jail matron,
refused to have her picture tak
en and made two breaks for
freedom. I
