National Bank Shareholders Okeh Stock Boost Plan A recent special meeting of the shareholders of the United States National Bank of Portland resulted in action to confirm an earlier proposal by the Board of Directors of that institution to increase the bank's capital stock. Announcement to this effect was made by E. C. Sammons, Presi dent, immediately after the meeting. The news is of interest locally because of the substan tial branch of the United States National maintained at Medford. The shareholders' action will bring about an increase in the bank's capital stock from $6,000, 000 to $8,000,000 and an in crease in surplus from $8,000, 000 to $10,000,000. These chang es will provide the bank with a paid-up capital and surplus of $18,000,000 and' undivided pro fits of approximately $4,750,000.
