TWO MEDrOHD MAIL TRIBUNE Monday, Sept. 10. 1945 Medford and Mail Tribune Disliked By Former Riverside (Cal.) Resident Tribune mail recently brought to light the painful fact that not everyone likes Medford. But then, the same letter disclosed that not everyone likes River aide, Calif., either. Worse than that, the Tribune lias been accused of not printing nil the news, so to refute that frightful impeachment, here's the tory: In the editor's mail was a clip ping from a Riverside, Calif., daily paper of a letter from Mrs. Alvin L. Mardock, 846 Taylor street, Medford. Mrs. Murdock write to the Press and Enter prise to say: "We have lived in Medford, Ore., since June 30, 3945, after selling our home in Riverside. We were informed it was cheaper to live here, but It's not so. Wages are cheap and cost of living high. "After living in Riverside 19 years, there is no place like it. "We were constant subscribers of the Daily Tress and we cer tainly have missed it, as there Is no paper here to compare with It. The Daily Press is a paper that gives the complete news and we have no such paper here. "As soon as we sell here we re coming back." Our spirits were raised con siderably by the writer of the letter, a Mr. McGaly, who made certain uncomplimentary re marks about the Riverside -climate, and also declared empha tically "I don't find anyone here giving anything away." lie ad ded that If the lady wanted to come back to Riverside he had a six-room house at 28(17 Cridgc Hired which he would gladly trade her for Medford property. You mcy remember that sev eral years ago the undersigned put on a one-man crusade to re move the fish killing electrodes at Gold Ray dam, which was ac complished after several checks were made. I also gathered a few affidavits at the time. At this time right now, and I sup pose that far Into the future the river will run through the power house, and the poor fish will still be trying to swim through the turbines, as they have ever since they turned the river through them. Eliminate the unnecessary stopping or killing of fish at Gold Ray by proper screening and give them a chance to go on up. Stop all boat fishing, that Is stop drifting, fish fairly, bait your hook. Wade, swim or fish from the bank. Please, fishermen, let' stop the guides . from cleaning the river ot stcelhoad. CHARLES E. ROSE, Rt. 4, Dox 148, Medford. P.S. The point I'm trying to get over is that if we had a number nf dams on the river we could at least fish for bull heads, perch or suckers, and not let s few licensed guides bait the hooks and keep on fishing after a legal limit has been taken.
