Hauser early today confessed that he beat and strangled Miss Dreyer last Saturday morning. . abandoning her body, stripped nude in the struggle, in a clump of poison ivy off the Favette City-Connelsville road, six miles from her home. The youth, who was dis charged from the navy after be ing wounded in a ship explosion in the Pacific, said he beat the girl when she resisted him after once promising to pet aj he drove her home from a Mones sen restaurant where she was employed as a waitress. Pass Area Grants Pass, Sept. 8 Fire completely destroyed the new, electrically equipped hop-dryer at the W. V. De Armand hop yards on the Lower River road early Friday. De Armond stated the build ing, supposedly fire-proof, and about 600 bales of hops In the process of drying and already dried were destroyed by the blaze. Loss was set at approxi mately $15,000 by De Armond. Both the building and the crops were covered by insurance, he said. The cause of the blaze has not been determined. What's Doing at U. S. O.
