E A regular Itinerant service for Hertford and Ashland has been established by the Klamath Falls office of the Social Secur ity Board and in the future Howard J. Nelson, manager of ' the office, will spend designat ed days In this county. The first visit to Medford will be Sent. 12, Mr. Nelson states, and thereafter he will be In the United States Employment1 of flee at Medford at 9 a. m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of evpry month. Nelson will be at the Council Chamber in Ashland's city hall at 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month beginning Sept. 11. Calls Urged "It Is believed that a regular date of call will provide a more adequate service to the rest dents of Medford, Ashland and vicinities," Nelson states. In dividuals desiring to file appli cations for benefits under old age and survivors insurance pro visions of the Social Security Act, or who merely wish infor mation, are urged to call during these regular scheduled visits of Nelson. However, Nelson pointed out that the Klamath board has full responsibility for only program, old-age and survivor's insur ance. E Washington, Sept. 6 UR Congressmen continued to press for an end to the draft and fas ter military discharges today as the army sharply boosted ex emptions from future overseas duty. The army announced last night that it would not send men overseas who had 45 points as of May 12, who were 37 years old or who were 34-36 years old with a minimum of one year's honorable service. Captain Overmyer Gets Bronze Star For Heroic Action Capt. Charles Overmyer, son of Col. and Mrs. O. L. Over mver. 610 South Hollv street. has been awarded the Bronze, I Star medal, according to a mes sage received from Capt. Ovcr myer's wife in Sparks, Nev. The medal was awarded by direction of the President for heroic achievement in connec tion with military operations against the enemy at Luzon from Jan. 15 to Jan. 10. Capt. Overmyer served at Biak, New Guinea, went to Ling yen Gulf with Gen. Douglas MacArthur and saw action at Manila, Sumar and southern: Luzon. He enlisted as a sergeant shortly before war was declared and received his commission af ter leaving the stales. He was promoted to captain while in the field. Live Snakes For Funeral Service Chattanooga, Tenn., Sept. 6 (U.R) Mrs. Resale Ford planned today to pass live snakes around at the funeral of her husband, lay preacher of a religious sect who died Monday of a rattle anake bite. The death of Lewis E. Ford, 82, was the second blamed on rattlesnakes used for sect cere- i monies over the labor day week end, j A doctor In Wise, Va., said Mrs. Anna Kirk, wife of rattler- j handling preacher, died Monday of bites she received Saturday !
