Main street, at 8 p. m. Thursday. Initiation will be held, and plans A will be made for the official visit r'Sept. 12 of Robert Hansen of Milwaukee, Wis., past grand president of the Grand Aerie and editor of the Eagles' magazine. Shearburn of the Foursquare Gospel church, with 12 young people, attended the northwest district crusader camp held last week at Trestle Glen, near Port land. Devotional classes were conducted in the mornings, rec reational activities in the after noon. Two hundred young peo ple attended. Phillips Have Girl Sgt. and Mrs. Gerald Phillips are the par ents of a girl born Aug. 8 at Hoff hospital, and weighing eight and one-half pounds. The baby has been named Jerolyn Ann. Mrs. Phillips is the former Shirley Ann Crosby of Medford. daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Cros by who now reside at Carpin- tena, Calif. Staples Returning Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Staples. Jr., former residents of Medford, are visiting friends in the city and making arrangements to return here to make their home. The Staples house at 1435 Euclid avenue has been rented since 1942 when the couple went to Portland. Mr. Staples was employed in Med ford with Conrad Bruce Invest ment Securities. Furlough Cancelled Flight Officer Kenneth H. Jones, who arrived home on furlough from Byersburg, Tenn., Aug. 8, was notified last week that his fur lough was cancelled and he has reported back to his base for as signment. The order reached Jones at the Oregon coast where he and his bride, the former Laura Billings of Ashland, were spending a few days. In the new position Peebles will specialize In heavy duty equipment such as Chevrolet trucks, auto cars, both gas and diesel operated, as well as logging trailers and dump bodies. Mr. Peebles assumed this new post ith a background of 18 years in the automotive busi ness: three of which has been with Rogue River Chevrolet, ac cording to Thomson . Mc Andrews road. To Retire Miss Louise Wood ruff, head of the music depart ment at Southern Oregon Col lege of Education in Ashland, has announced plans to retire at the close of the summer session. Miss Woodruff has been with the school 14 years, and prior to that taught at Marshfield and Mon mouth. Her future plans are in definite. On Furlough Sgt. William M. Strode is spending a 30-day furlough with his wife at their home, 324 Haven street. He has been stationed in Italy for the past 13 months, and at expira tion of his furlough will report to Indiantown Gap, Pa. Sgt.
