Trout in abundance are being taken on flies with streamers in most any pattern and size hook Spinner fishing is also good. In riffles and choppy water while bait is bringing results for those anglers who like the small light leader and single egg. Salmon fishing still remains BY potty In th Flogu with lorn anglers having success and oth ers not able to get a strike. Now that the salmon run Is over and the fish ar getting settled in their spawning beds, best results are obtained with 5 Bear Valley spinners In brass or nickel fin ish during sundown. Trout fishing in smaller streams has turned to the upper reaches where water Is cooler and food less. Small spinners are good as well as eggs in me dium color. Flies have been the number one lure in whatever pattern and size the fisherman can obtain. Due to shortage of experienced help and lack of material the fly situation is seri ous at present. Fly stocks in Medford are reported scarce. Hiatt Lake is providing excel lent fishing with plenty of catches being made from either boat or shore. Crappies are eas ily taken on hooks with red yarn or piece of white fish meat. Reports from Diamond Lake are both good and bad. Some ang lers reported fair catches while others caught nothing but a sun burn. Floating algae makes trol ling anything but pleasant. Bait fishing brings best results and bigger fish. August to end of the season is said to be the best time to fish Diamond Lake. BASEMEN SWITCHED Boston, July 6.
