routine series of tests. But the
doctor is now uncertain how to
present himself to the profession
and the public, Just what to call

his men after the close of the
Fifth army's campaign In Italy,
Broedlow said an appropriate
place to erect the monument
might be near Llvergnano,
where, in four days of bloody
fighting, doughboys of the 36 1st
destroyed a heavily fortified
enemy defense line that the Ger
mans had been ordered to hold
at all costs.
He emphasized, however, that
the final decision as to the type
of monument and Its , location
will rest entirely with the men
of the regiment.

capital to support him for three
to five years before he ventures

will have ample time to culti
vate relations with schools, clubs,
youth organizations, and the like

dress lunch clubs, conventions,
forums all of which provide
opportunities for people more
conscious of the importance and

the 32d "Red Arrow" Infantry
Division. .
In the service since Oct.
1944, Atkins trained ' at Camp
Wolters, Tex., before shipping to
the Philippines. The infantry.
men in this unit have seen ac
tion in six major engagements
in the past thirty-seven months
and hold the Distinguished Unit
Badge for their performance in
the bloody Buna Battle.
His wife, Mrs. Mamie N. At-

Janice, live with the soldier's

Bicycling Stunt
Proves Too Much
For Man Aged 73
Eugene, Ore., June 27. (U.R)
Funeral services were held
here today for William S. Camp
bell, 73, who died in a vain
attempt to repeat a feat he had
accomplished 50 years ago on
his 23rd birthday.
While bicycling from Eugene
to Independence after having
come from Eugene the day be
fore, Campbell collapsed on the
roadside, dying a few moments
later.
The 73-year-old man was
found dead by motorists along a
main highway leading to Eugene
lying beside his bicycle only a
few miles from his goal.

The Japanese battle on Okinawa
may be over and super-fortresses
may be pulverizing the Japanese
homeland but that isn't the way
the Japanese tell it in Hopeh
province, China. '
In Hopeh, the office of war
information, overseas branch re
ported today, the Japanese war
reports go like this:
"Japanese capture San Fran
ciscomarch on ' Washington
and New York."
And, according to the stories
the Japanese tell the natives, the
rising sun banner now flies over
all of Australia, New Zealand,
the Philippines, the Dutch East
Indies and India.
