From Salem the Meekers will go to Portland for a short stay. ,The conven tion is scheduled to open Thurs day evening and close Sunday. From California R. J. Patter son and his three sons, Russell, Gene Allen and Billy, have ar rived in Medford to visit Mr. Patterson's parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Newman, Ceptral Point Road, and later will go to Lake o'Woods where the boys will spend a month's vacation at the Newman summer home. They will be In the care of Mrs Kash, who accompanied the family here from Millbrae, Cal. Mrs. Patterson, the former Dor othy Newman, is engaged in the advertising business in San Francisco and will spend the coming months in New York on business. To Receive Degree Bob Holmes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cole Holmes, 6 Keene Way Drive, will graduate Friday from the University of Colorado, receiving the degree of batchelor of science in electrical engineer ing. He entered the university two years ago under the navy v-12 program. Mrs. Holmes left Sunday evening for Boulder to ' attend graduation ceremonies and the two will return to Med ford June 29. After a week's leave young Holmes will report to the University of Notre Dame where he will receive further training before being commissioned. Through SATURDAY Building Permit C. Vf. Daughter Injured Gloria Greb, 10, daughter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Greb, former residents of Central Point and Talent now living in North Bend is In a North Bend hospital being treated for a broken leg and other injuries suffered when she was struck by a car while alight ing from a bus last Wednesday. The Grebs moved to North Bend a month ago and have purchased a home at 757 Commercial St. . . . Son Home Jack Winchester, SFlc, is in Medford to visit his mother, Mrs. Richard Winches ter, 111 King street, after two years in the South Pacific. Also here is his wife, who has been making her home in Boise, Ida. Another son of Mrs. Winchester, Leroy Winchester, was recently given a medical discharge from the Seabees after two years of service and is now residing with his family on Dakota avenue. A daughter, Miss Mildred Win chester, returned home last week from Oregon State college where she was a student this past year. The Winchesters came to Medford two years ago from Lakeview. Mail Carriers Shy From Vicious Dogs Lincoln, Neb., (U.R) Dog owners at Lincoln have been warned mail will not be deliv ered to their homes unless vi cious dolgs are leashed. ' Last year, seven Lincoln mail carriers were bitten by unfriend ly dogs, and assistant postmaster L. H. Watson has announced the postmen will not be required to deliver letters to homes owning such animals. Throughout the country, 1,259 carriers were bit ten during 1944, he said.
