Used Car Ceilings
Will Drop July 1
Ceiling prices for used pas
senger cars will be reduced four
per cent on July 1 in accordance
with the "rollback" provisions of
the used car price regulation, the
local OPA has announced.
The reduction in price applies
to used cars sold by either deal
ers or private owners.
Also to be reduced four per
cent on July 1 are charges al
lowed for extra equipment on
used cars such as heaters, radios
and other built-in items for
which additions to base ceiling
prices are permitted. '
Coca-Cola Supply
Will be Reduced
By Sugar Dearth
The supply oil Coca-Cola in
Medford and trade area definite
ly will be affected by the further
curtailment of the sugar supply
after July 1 because the manu
facturer will not compromise
with the use substitutes, accord
ing to Wayne H. Jamison, man
ager of the Medford Bottling
company. However, an equi
table system of rationing will be
maintained in Medford and
trade territory during the short
age, Jamison said.
"The OPA announced last
week that the allotment of sugar
to industrial users would be cut
July 1 to 50 per cent of the
amount used in the third quarter
of 1941. I am informed that this
sugar shortage is world wide and
directly attributable to the con
fusion in production and distri
bution of sugar occasioned by
the war," Jamison stated. "Sugar
is absolutely necessary in Coca-
Cola manufacture. We cannot
and will not use sweetening sub-
