FOUR MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE Sunday, Juna 10, 1145 1 Society and Qubs Seefield-Perry Rites Are Held In Eagle Point Eagle Point Mrs. Augusta Secfield and William Perry were married at a quiet ceremony at the Perry home here Sunday, June 3. The ring service was read bv County Judge J. B. Coleman. Mrs. Seefield has chosen for her wedding an afternoon dress of sheer blue crepe and wore a gardenia corsage. Following the service a wed ding dinner was served. Rooms of the Perry home had been beautifully decorated with roses, calla lilies and other spring blossoms. ' Guests Included Mr. Perry's two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Grover and Mrs. Nellie Bowles of Med ford, and Mrs. Coleman. Both the bride and groom are lifelong residents of the Eagle Point district and have a host of friends. Mr. Perry is a Jack son county commissioner and operates a ranch. . . Couples Honored Thursday Evening At Lodge Meeting Mr. and Mrs. B. V. Shirley and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bashaw were honored Thursday night during the social hour which fol lowed the meeting of Mistletoe lodge, Royal Neighbors of Amer ica. The Shirleys were celebrat ing their 20th wedding annivers ary and the Bashaws their four teenth wedding anniversary. Both couples were presented with gifts, Mrs. Donna Taylor making the presentations, and Mrs Clara Hodgkins sang a solo in their honor. During refresh ments anniversary cakes were served. Mrs. Pearl Miller and Mrs. Maude Lovell were In charge of the refreshment hour. During the meeting Mrs. Mar jorie Pearson conducted a me morial service, with Mrs. Hodg kins acting as soloist. Next meeting of the camp June 21 will bo a drill meeting and all officers are asked to attend. It will be followed by a "Dutch treat." Miss Day Returns fiemt From School in Tacoma Miss Janet Day, daughter of Mrs. Slater Johnston, 204 Crater Lake avenue, arrived home Thursday from Tacoma, Wash., where she has 'been attending the Annie Wright seminary. BUY BONDS DURING THE 7rh WAR LOAN Alpha Whillock To Become Bride Of Army Captain June, traditional month of brides, brings announcement of many weddings Among these will be the marriage of Miss Alpha Belle Whillock, daughter of Mrs. Edith Whillock of 10U3 West Main street, to Capt. Wayne Crews, son of Mrs. Lucy Crews of 737 West Fourteenth street, which will take place Wednesday evening, June 20 at the First Baptist church here at eight o'clock. Miss Whillock, now a sopho more student at Oregon State college, will arrive home the lat ter part of this week. The bride elect attended Medford high school where she was prominent in extra-curricular activities and also an honor student. She was named winner of two good citi zenship awards while in high school. . Since entering college Miss Whillock has continued to be active in group work. Last year she was elected to Talons, na tional honor society, and Alpha Lamba Delta, honor group for sophomore students. This year she has served as president of Waldo hall, has been initiated into the college chapter of Sigma Kappa social sorority and was recently installed as vice-presi dent of Associated Women stu dents of the school. In addition she was recently initiated into two additional honor groups, Euterpe and Phi Chi Thcta Capt. Crews attended school here and was graduated from Santa Rosa high school in Cali fornia with honors. He was a student at the University of Cali fornia for three years and then enlisted in the army air force in February of 1842. After 19 months in England as a bomber pilot and operations officer he was returned to this country and is now stationed at Thundcrbird Field in Glendale, Ariz. Eagles, Auxiliary Hold Installation For New Officers Crater Lake Aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Auxiliary held joint installation Thursday night. Dale Carr was installed as president of the Eagles and Ethyl Weed as president of the auxiliary. Other officers installed for the Eagles were Shannon White, past president; Dave Gould, vice pres ident; Boyd Wilson, chaplain; Aurele Mcunier, conductor; O. H. Bcngtson, secretary; Frances Walker, treasurer; William Ol son, Inside guard; Burdette Sulli van, outside guard; George 5. Jennings, aerie physician; and Ray Marks, trustee. New officers for the Auxiliary were Leona White, junior past I president; Lona Bergman, vice I president; Chloe Barnhart, chap lain; Winifred Olson, conduc I tress; Melba Klatt, secretary; Verda Dyngc, treasurer; Celia Gist, inside guard; Loretta Den ncy, outside guard; and Isobel Tucker, trustee. Installing officers were, Ora Meyers and Verda Edsall. In stalling conductor and conduc tress were Frank Shafcr and Ruby Mne. All officers and the drill team were presented with corsages and boutonnieres. The auxiliary presented Junior Past President Leona White and Mrs. Edsall with flowers and the drill team presented Ethyl Weed with a gift. Flag Day Program Planned by Union A Flag Day program is being planned by the Women's Chris tian Temnerance Union for a I meeting on that day, June 14, at the home of Mrs. B M. Linlnger, I 60B South Onkdale avenue, at two o'clock. Miss Ora Cox will I give the history of the flag. The Rev. No collection taken Announcement has been made of the betrothal of Miss Evelyn Marie Little of Arlington, Calif., to Douglas Forsythe Mordoff, formerly of Medford and now of Richmond, Calif The bride elect announced the news to her classmates at the Hanson House on the University of California campus last Monday. Miss Little is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Little, of Arlington and is a student in pre-nursing at the California school. The future bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. G Mordoff of South Riverside Ave., Medford. He was graduated from Oregon State college in 1942 and is now employed as a chemical engineer with Standard Oil company of California at their Richmond, Calif., refinery. Mil ler was solemnized Thursday evening at the Redden home. The double ring ceremony was performed by Dr Louis Kirby of the First Methodist church be fore a small group of relatives and close friends. The couple was attended by Miss Irene Franklin and John Redden, niece and brother of the bride. The bride wore an afternoon dress of dusty rose and a match ing corsage of rose buds. Miss Franklin's dress was of aqua crepe and her corsage was of pink carnations. The bride's mother wore a dress of soft pink with a gardenia corsage. The living room, where the ceremony was performed, was made lovely with June roses and the dining table was centered with an arrangement of Dainty Bess roses. The wedding cake was first cut by the bride and Mrs. George Russell, Mrs. John Red den and Mrs. Augusta Coy as sisted with the serving. The bride is a native daughter of Medford and is employed at Mann's beauty, salon Sgt. Mil ler is the son of Mrs. Ina Clark of Kamiah, Ida.; and is a veteran of the African and Italian cam paigns, having just returned from more than two years overseas. The couple will spend their honeymoon at Crescent City, Calif., and will then go to Santa Ana, by way of the coastal route, where the groom will be station ed for reassignment. Capt. and Mrs. Raymond Ross were married the latter part of April in the First Methodist church. Mrs. Ross, the former Doro thea Olsen, Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Olsen, 40 Berkeley Way. (Shangle photo.) Miss Yocum Wed To Harold Stagg In Recent Rites Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Yocum, Griffin Creek, announce the mar riage of their daughter, Violet Ruth, to Harold Stagg of Jack sonville. The service took place May 27 at the home of the Rev. George Baker, pastor of the As sembly of God church, with the Rev Baker performing the cere mony. The bride wore an aqua blue crepe dress with white acces sories and her flowers were a corsage of gardenias. Following the service a wed ding dinner was served at the home of the bride's parents. Guests were Mrs. Evelyn Brady, mother of the groom; Mrs. Guy Dix and children. Troop Will Meet. Tuesday Evening A dinner and business meet ing will be held by the Ladies' Mounted Troop Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. William Grenbemer, 23 Rose avenue, at 7 o'clock. All members of the troop, and of the Sheriff's Posse, are reminded of the Sunday drill this morning at 10 o'clock at the posse stables. Luncheon-Shower Given Saturday For Miss Tumy Miss Deborah Tumy, whose wedding is planned for June 28 at St. Mark's Episcopal church here, was honored Saturday at a luncheon given by Mrs. Lillian Salade at her home near Central Point. Miss Tumy's fiance is Richard C. Ashcom, navy V-12 medical student at Wayne uni versity, Detroit. His home is at Johnstown, Pa. Following the luncheon Miss Tumy was presented a gift show er. Invited to the affair were her mother, Mrs. Earl Tumy, her grandmother, Mrs Charles C. Gilbert, and a group of school friends. Service Group Plans Sewing Meet Tuesday The serviceroup of the Local Officers' Wives club will meet at the Outpost Tuesday at 8 p. m to sew. The group is to make booties, afghan squares or stuffed toys and any officer's wife is in vited to attend the meeting. It is staled the group needs old felt, yarn, darning and knit ting needles and old materials for stuffed toys and anyone hav ing these is asked to leave them at the Outpost. Miss Huldah Rose Becomes Bride Of Sergeant Fisher Miss Huldah Rose and Staff Sergeant J. L. Fisher were mar ried Friday, June 1, the cere mony taking place at the First Presbyterian church in Medford at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The Rev. Harry W. Hansen read the service. Miss Rose is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Rose, 429 South Front street, and Sgt. Fisher's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Fisher of Springfield, Ore. For her wedding Miss Rose wore a tailored - navy blue suit with white accessories and a cor sage of talisman roses. Her at tendant, Mrs. L. I. Martin of Ashland, wore a gold colored suit and a corsage of pink roses. Best man for Sgt. Fisher was Cpl. Darrel Copeland, on leave from Camp Swift, Tex. Following the ceremony friends of the couple were in vited to the Rose home where wedding refreshments includ ing the traditional cake, were served. After the wedding trip Sgt. and Mrs. Fisher will go to Van couver, Wash., where the ser geant will report at Barnes hos pital. He recently returned to this country from the European war theater where he served 29 months with the First Army. Mrs. Fisher graduated from Medford high school, attended Southern Oregon College of Ed ucation and for the past three years taught in the Eagle Point schools. f Many Attend Tea Given at Academy, , Sunday Afternoon The benefit tea given last Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's Academy proved to be a large affair, with more than 100 guests attending. The affair honored the Sisters of the Holy Names society who have served as teachers at the academy last year and was given by women of the parish. A program included a dance by Girl Scout troop members, with music provided by Carol Dav and Joan Blunkall. Musi cal numbers were given by Caro line Hedrick, Gertrude Lewis. Joanne Gosch and Mary Annette Rentz. Those who arranged the tea and assisted during the after noon were Mrs- Joseph Dugan, Mrs. John DiSuma, Miss Ger trude Lewis, Mrs. Merle Merri man, Mrs. Delbert Clifford, Mrs. R. A. Miksche, Mrs. Jane Swan son, Mrs. Don Chandler, Mrs. G. C Pendergast and Mrs. James Murray. Also assisting were the Misses Joanne Gosch, Char lotte Singler, Phyllis, Jocelyn Mcunier, Yvonne LaBarr, Lola Hedrick, Noreen Kelly and Anna Marie Murphy. Miss Doris Fine f-And Leonard Hake Wed Last Month Miss Doris Louise Fine, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence A. Miller of Toledo, Ore., became the bride of Leonard Stanley Hake, son of Mr. and Mrs.Sjtan ley Hake, 540 South Fir street, in a ceremony held May 16 at Toledo. The Rev. James Wilson of the Toledo Methodist " church, per formed the double ring cere mony. Wedding music was play ed by Mrs. John L. Graham and Mrs. James Wilson sang. The bride wore an eggshell satin dress with a short train and fingertip veil. She carried a bou quet of gardenias and pink rose buds. Her sister, Pauline Fine, was attendant and wore a frock of delphinium blue and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds. Jan et Parton, the bride's cousin, was flower girl. Sgt. CarmiFer guson was best man and Verlyn Fine and Marvin Hawkins were ushers. Following the ceremony a re ception was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Parton. The bride and groom are now at , their- home in San Diego, Calif., where the groom is at tending school. He is a yeoman second class in the navy. Irene Franklin, William Person Wed at Modesto Miss Irene Franklin, daughter of Mrs. George Russell, 1108 East Eleventh street, left Med ford Friday for Modesto, Calif., where she was married Satur day to Pfc. William Person, ' Miss Franklin graduated from Medford high school in June, 1943, and has been employed at the Southern Oregon Credit bureau. Pfc Person was attached to the medical corps of Camp White for two years and was recently transferred to the army hospital at Modesto. The young couple will make their home in that city. Automobile drivers should de velop the habit of always glanc ing at the tires before getting into the car.
