The young man recently return
ed to this country from Italy,

furlough. His brother, Cpl.
John Gitzen, USMC, is in Hawaii

Appointed Letltia Riddle of
Medford has been appointed ad'
mlnlstrator of the estate of her
sister, Hattie Gilson Logan, who
died April 26 at the age of 79
years. A friend, Amy Dow of
Jacksonville, was first appointed
administrator but resigned upon
the return of Mrs. Riddle to the
city,

bers of the Red Cross Nurses
Aide corps are asked to meet at
the lobby of the Medford hotel
Wednesday at 9:45 a. m. to
march in the annual Memorial
day parade. Members are asked
to be in uniform. It is stated
that the group need not assemble
if it is storming.
Group To Meet The service
group of the. Local Officers
Wives club will meet tonight at
the Outpost at 8 p. m. to sew
and knit for refugee children
All members interested are
urged to attend this meeting and
to bring yarn, old felt, darning
needle and scissors with which
to make booties. .

Gleason and small son, David
have arrived in Medford form
Portland and will reside here in
the future. Mrs. Gleason's par
ents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Gleason, live on the New Crater
Lake highway, and her husband,
Lt. (jg) Gleason, a fighter pilot
with the navy, is now in the
South Pacific. Lt. Gleason's
brother, Sgt. Royal E. Gleason,
overseas for three years, is now
In the Philippine islands with
the signal corps of the Fifth
AAF.

Wrecked Car Found State
police reported today that they
recovered a car reportedly stolen
from Arthur Davis, Ashland. The
car was found wrecked, burned
and stripped in a ditch along
Highway 99 near Burgoyne s.

restaurant chef, said today he
didn t care how many children
his wife had by a Marine who
died on Iwo Jima "because I love
her and I'm going to take her
back."
While Mrs. Jean' Pappas, at
tractive 22-year-old Oklahoman
who married him five years ago
out of sympathy, for a widower
with two children awaited his
visit at General hospital.
Mrs. Pappas plunged from a
fifth story window at Research
hospital toJje with "Church," the
Marine she said was the father
of her two children. But she
landed on a pile of soft earth and
suffered only a broken left
shoulder.

every physically fit soldier in
the United States who has not
been overseas will be assigned to
foreign service before he is dis
charged.
Ulio said the army Is trying to
speed the return of soldiers to
civilian life but considers the
war against Japan more import
ant than partial demobilization.
The army, he said, will not ask
any GI "to lay down his life in
order that another American sol
dier may return home a few days
sooner.".
Ulio addressed a meeting of
the Advertising Men s Post, 209,
American Legion yesterday.
