WILLIAM BRADY. M.D. Rssdsrs should address inquiries toi Dr. William Brady. 265 El Camlno. Bsysrly Hills. Calif. NO TAKERS Two or three months ago I offered $100 to any charitable organization the winner indicat ed, xor m.nui bills of fare, lists of specific foods g i v i n e the quantities I !.ir of all items for three meals, which an ord 1 n a r y person co u 1 d eat, that would supply not only the amounts of Dr. Brady protein, fat and carbohydrate required to give the calories an average adult must have daily but also all of the minerals and" vitamins required to maintain good nutri tion. At the same time I expressed the opinion that It is today prac tically impossible for one to get such a diet even if he is better informed than the average citi zen is in regard to the essentials of nutrition. I cited nutrition authorities whose teachings, I believe, support my contention I mean I believe my author ities, to date, outweigh or at least, balance the weight of the authorities some of my readers have cited as not supporting my contention. These readers more or less indignantly insist that my contention about this is subvers ive in effect and one health offi cer protested that my teachings "do much to undermine sound health teachings in the field of nutrition." That he didn't know what he was talking about he betrayed in his closing remark: "Fads come and go, and syn thetic vitamins are the current fad." What, I wonder, have syn thetic vitamins to do with the subject? The question is how to get enough vitamins, (natural) In one every-day food. Various other readers have similarly disposed of the ques tion to their own satisfaction and some of them have instruct ed me where to send the $100. To date, however, no one has submitted a specimen diet for a day, a list of foods for three meals, menus or bills of fare spe- cnymg now much of what food will supply how much of what vitamin or vitamins. That's what I challenged the socalled experts in nutrition to give me, To near-experts may I say I am fed up with schoolboy recita tions of the "recommended daily allowance made by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Symphony of th America MBS: Bluea In th Afternoon, NBC. ion4NB,C.m'" NW"' CB Eta" P,t,r' .?:0 D m.
