James J. Boyle, Holder of Star, Home For Visit Lt. James J. Boyle, holder of the silver star, has returned to Medford after nine months ser vice in the European theater of operations. Lt. Boyle, a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Durkee, 820 Palm street, arrived here iuesaay. Lt. Boyle was assigned as a forward observer of the 40th Division artillery, attached to the Seventh army, and partici pated in three campaigns. He was awarded the silver star on Jan. 12 of this year. The officer wag accompanied here- by his wife, the former Miss Bettylee Walters, and after 45 days rest leave, will report at Ft. Lewis June 17 for reassignment. Be fore joining the armed foices Lt. Boyle was employed by Tim ber Products lor four years. Medford Navy Man Featured In Story L. N. Richards, CCS in the navy and a son of Mrs. Agnes benodenos, 314 Jcanette street, was recently featured in an arti cle in the Oakland, Calif., Ga zette. Richards, in the navy 24 years, gave a series of demonstra tion of meat cutting and cook ing for all the galley personnel of Moffett Field. The navy man has aeen service on all types of ships from sub marines to battleships, the arti cle relates.
