Issue Information Additional information concerning the pic nic meeting of Medford Girl Scout leaders, council members and workers planned for Mon day, was Issued yesterday. If the weather is unfavorable, the meeting will not be at the home of Mrs. Scott Davis on the Rogue River but will be at Service Club No. 2 at Camp White. Those at tending are asked to meet at the Scout house at 11 a. m., and transportation to whichever place is selected will be pro vided. To Attend Church The annual custom of attending church as a group with their mothers will be observed this morning by members of Medford Bethel, Daughters of Job. Bethel members and their mothers are asked to meet at Zion Lutheran church, West Fourth street, at 10:43 a. m., and to remain at the door until the entire group has assembled. Visiting Here TSgt. Olaf W. Severson and Pfc. Jean Stein ke, of the marine corps, are vis iting at the home of Sgt. Sever son's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Severson, 612 Boardman street. Severson recently returned from overseas, where he served on Bougainville, Guadalcanal' and New Guinea for the past year. They will return to the marine base at Mojave, Calif., after 15 days In Medford. Permits Issued Four build ing permits were issued this week-end from the office of the city superintendent. James C. OBITUARY FRANK FITZGERALD Services for Frank Fitzgerald Sams Valley, who passed away in a local hospital last Sunday eve ning, will be held in the Conger- Morris chapel at 2 p. m. Monday The Rev. W. A. Dawes of the Baptist church officiating. In terment will be in the Sams Val ley cemetery. He was born In Red Bluff, Calif., April 24, 1865, and moved to Talent, with his parents, when six years old. In June, 1877 he moved to Sams Valley where he resided until his death. On Dec. 22, 1900, in Jacksonville, he was married to Delia Morri son, who survives. Also surviv ing are six children: Mrs. Leoca Rice, Mrs. George Silver and Jerome Fitzgerald, all of Gold Kill; Miss Frances Fitzgerald, Klamath Falls; TSgt. Herbert Fitzgerald, Langley Field, Va who is home for the services and. Lt. G. S. Fitzgerald, Phil ippine Islands. There Is also a grandchild, Louise Silver. FLYER DERAILED San Francisco, May 12 (U.R) The west-bonnd Exposition Flyer of the Western Pacific rail road crashed into the rear of a freight train near Cal-Neva, on the California-Nevada border, early today, derailing the engine and ten cars and Injuring three persons, line officials reported. Phone S302 T OF E A letter recently received by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Fuson, box 149, from their son, Capt. T. J. Fuson, medical officer with the American army In Germany, told of some of his experiences while serving with a hospital unit Capt. Fuson wrote of aiding In establishing a hospital for for mer slaves of the Reich in the Roer pocket. He was made pro fessional consultant and super vised a staff of German medical corpsmen, 20 German army nurses, 28 corpsmen and 50 civ ilian nurses. Capt. Fuson wrote that the ad vancement of German medical science was far below that of the United States'. "They knew nothing of penicillin until we in troduced them to it," he wrote. They used no plasma and had only two or three of the earlier sulfa drugs which we discarded years ago in favor of superior ones, according to the letter. In writfng of the German con centration camps, Capt. Fuson said, "You've surely beun read ing of the concentration camps that have recently been over run by red-eyed GI's it's nause ating. I've seen enough already to make me hate the Germans and everything they stand for, for the rest of my life. No treat ment of them can be too severe." TARGET PRACTICE Target practice with service rifles and sub-machine guns by the Medford unit of Oregon State Guard Is being arranged through Camp White officers, ac cording to Lt. O. E. Sabin, com manding the Medford unit, a rifle company of the 1st regi ment. "Men enlisting In the local unit now will still have ample time to qualify with sub-calibre arms at the indoor range, before regular target work com mences," Lt. Sabin stated.
