the stock market today. Prices
had their worst break since
March 26 on increased volume.
Two reasons stood out for the
selling. The top one was the in
dication as expressed by Secre
tary Morgenthau that the admin
istration will fight any proposals
for general tax relief at the
present time. The second, losing
in favor, was that the market
was entitled toa drop at this
time to consolidate the recent
gains.
