McLean, 227 South Oakdale, left last night for San Francisco for reassign ment with the coast guard nfrpr a short leave with his parents. Returns Mrs. Robert Young, Rt. 1, returned yesterday from San Diego, Calif., where she has been visiting her husband, a radarman 3c, who has just re cently returned from 23 months' duty with the navy in the Pa cific. Mrs. Young had been vis iting in California since Febru ary. Sister Here Mrs. Tommy Ross and son, Jimmy, of Eugene, are in Medford for a brief visit with Mrs. Ross'- brother and sister-in-law, Cpl. and Mrs. James F. Fry and son, 118 Wil lamette avenue. Cpl. Fry is home on furlough after an ex tended period of service in India. Vessey Here Pfc. and Mrs Donald E. Vessey are in Med ford this week after a short vis it in Portland with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Vessey. The couple is visiting Mrs. Vessey's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Werner, 307 Haven street. Pvt. Vessey will leave tomorrow to report back to the air corps at San Antonio, Tex. In Pageant Miss Joyce Niedermeyer, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Otto H. Niedermeyer. Route . 2, will take part in a water pageant, "The Sailor's Dream" to the presented May 8 by Amphibians, women s swim ming honorary at the University of Oregon, a news release from the school' states. The pageant will be part of the program for Junior Week-end. Program Tonight Medford residents were reminded today that the public is invited to attend a program of music to be presented at the senior hinh school adutorium at 8 o'clock tonight. Leavitt made up a committee from the Jackson County Cham ber of Commerce which met Thursday night with a commit tee of Williams Creek Grange members. The group discussed the matter of promoting interest in the proposed Williams Creek road to the Oregon Caves dis trict. A second meeting Is plan ned for the near future. Pennsylvania Grain Authorities Visit Valley Seed Farms Dr. Fred Grau, extension ag- Rronomist for Pennsylvania State college, and George Tay lor, farm operator from Erie county, Penn., will leave Med ford tonight after two davs spent here visiting seed farms. The two men were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Hoover, Route 4. and spent Thursdav inspecting seed acre age on the Hoover farms. Today they rjlanned to visit the farms of Otto Bnhnert, Henry Conger and John Day. Last night a group of inter ested persons gathered at the Hoover home to meet the two visitors and discuss mutual prob lems with them. Dr Grau and Taylor came here from Oregon State college. where they conferred with staff members of the extension serv Ice. and will visit other experi ment stations and seed farms be fore returning home.
