Hl-Y CONGRESS DISTRICT MEET Medford YJICA was host to the Southern Oregon Hi-Y Con gress last Sunday. Worship ser vice for the day was written by Ben H. Schmidt and Capt. Har old Burton, theme of the service being "Power of Influence." Officers of the day were Alton Hayes, Medford, president; Stan ley Dubbs. Grants Pass, vice president and John Reedy, Aslv land, gecretary. Nineteen dele gates from Medford were in at-' tendance, four from Ashland, seven from Grants Pass and 11 from Roseburg. Six girls from Roseburg who represented the Tri-Hi-Y, national girls organiza tion affiliated with the Hl-Y clubs, also attended. The program opened at 8:45 a.m. with registration and open ing formalities were led by Schmidt. Devotions and election of officers followed. Frank Van Dyke, state representative from Ashland, gave the keynote ad dress. Informal Hi-Y discussions led by Gerald Pence, LeRoy House, John Bullock and Alton Hayes completed the morning program, At noon a luncheon was served by Mrs. G. Pence, Mrs. J. Hayes, Mrs. Clarence Meeker and Mrs. Schmidt. Her. Mflo Ross opened the afternoon program with an ad dress entitled "An Older Boy's Religious Living, In Thought and Action." Mrs. J. A. Smith spoke on "Forming a Peaceful World" and open discussions were held on the talks. George E. Maddox sang two longs which were followed by the closing address by Rev. Ross.
