cent of graduate nurses can
write a letter that reflects bet
ter education that that of a per
son with one year of high school.
I had four years of high school
and one year of college but we
don't spend three years learning
how to write letters the things
we learn in nurse training
school are nursing procedures,
how to follow doctors' orders
how to make the patient com
fortable. , . . Incidentally I de
test letter writing . . ."

lady. Darned if 1 can find a wee
little fault in it. Except, of
course, your unfair and unkind
attitude toward health column
conductors.
My purpose In commenting
upon the poor spelling, punctua
tion and form of letters 1 have
received from graduate or regis
tered nurses is to show that
after all, more than two years of
high school work does not nec
essarily make a young woman
fitter to study nursing than is
a girl who has had only one or
two years of high school educa
tion. I'd selerJl the 17 or 18 or
20 year old girl who could write
a good letter, In preference to
the college girl who couldn't, no
matter how little high school
work the girl may have had, as
a girl fit to study nursing.
I have the highest regard for
nurses I married one once, and
I'd do it again if I could find one
