Japan's Suicide Pilots Locked In When Plane Takes Air Against Foe ing speed of 400 miles an hour Unable either to bale or land the plane without exploding it, the pilot is doomed even before he dives on his assigned objec tive After the takeoff, reliable sources said, a suicide pilot cir cles the field three times while the entire personnel of the base stands at attention and salutes.
