Young, 19, Is missing on a mission over Ger many, according to a message received from the war depart ment Tuesday by his father Ray Young. 327 North Grape street. Ho is an aerial gunner with the 8th air force and had three more missions left to complete his tour of duty over Germany, ac cording to his father. Sgt. Young was a football player at Medford high school before entering the air corps in July, 1943. He went overseas Nov. 1, 1944. His mother, Mrs. Lena Young, resides at 329 North Riverside avenue. Newbry of Ashland has been named a mem ber of the Oregon senate tax study commission provided for by senate Joint resolution two passed at the last session of the legislature, he stated today Newbry served as chairman of the senate tax committee during the session. Newbry stated that the study commission is to be made up of 13 members, including the pres ident of the senate and speaker of the house. Each of these will also have the privilege of ap pointing a member of the study group. An analysis of the state's tax system and other research will be made by the body which is to report recommendations dur ing the next legislative session Toastmasters to Hold Intra-Club Speaking Contest Beginning April 16 and run ning through May 21, the Toast- masters club will hold an intra- club speaking contest at their regular meetings in the Jackson Hotel, according to D. D. Davis. club representative. There will be four, speakers In contest each meeting night with semi-final contests slated May 28. Winners will defend their position June 4. The competitive speakers' program is expected to prove interesting and all members are urged to be present each contest night First four speakers will be Elwood Hedberg, D. D. Davis, O. W. Da Jarnett and Harold Burelson.
