Clerk Surprised Employees of the county clerk's office this morning held an impromptu ob servance of the birthday of County Clerk George R. Carter. The girl workers served cake and coffee in a surprise for the county official, and sang "Hap py Birthday." Other county workers dropped in to extend greetings. ' Lua Home Donald R. Lue. Sic, ARM, arrived in Medford Saturday night to visit his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lue, Rt. 1, Box 339. Lue is on a 15- day delay en route from the naval air station at Jacksonville, Fla., to Hutchinson, Kan., hav ing been assigned to Liberator bomber training at that base. This is the first leave for the young man in a year. Correction Dan Walland. ARM3c in the navy and recently reported wounded, is not based on an aircraft carrier as pre viously reported but is a mem ber of the crew of a B-24 plane based on the Mariana Islands, his mother. Mrs. Ted Walland, Old Stage Road, stated totday. Mrs. Walland's message was to the effect that the young man was seriously wounded and that fur ther details would be sent In the near future.
