Main Dial 3170 FOOD CONSERVATION Owing to the stress of war we now hear much about food con servation. All are anxious to do their part. Some do not see how they can conserve more and others are fearful lest they be unable to obtain sufficient. After all it Is not the amount eaten that builds our bodies, but the amount properly digested. We may ail help in food con servation not only without in jury but to our benefit. This we may do by eating more slow ly, more thoroughly masticating our food, dismissing business cares and worries and enjoying greater mental contentment while eating. By carrying out these stiggrstions better diges tion and assimilation follows and less food .is required. Of course much depends upon the normal functioning of the digestive sys tem. If the digestive system func tions abnormally, proper treat ment will assist in overcoming tins defect. 53,. 41 64V6 54 11014 1113a 40,4 41 Vi 104 on 7. 56 U 62 OF LOWERROGUETO HAVE LOW FLOW Small tributaries of the lower Rogue, such as Evans creek, Graves creek, and Jump-off Joe creek, may expect low summer flow about Aug. 1, the forecast watter committee report shows. The committee met here last Fri day. Ditch closures on late water rights may be expected the latter part of August. In the main Applegate district conditions indicate that regula tion of water between rights will be advanced approximately two weeks over last year. This is due to a below normal snow and evidence that ground water sup plies on the Applegate water shed are depleted below normal. Shortage of water for late priority rights is expected about August 15, and by September stream flow is not likely to sup port rights later than those of 1900, the report further states. Some shortage is expected in the Talent district of the Bear creek valley, with 1000 acre feet short of normal requirements in the storage resorvoirs. The re port cautions there is apt to be a rather serious shortage if the summer proves warm and dry. If withdrawal of water can be delayed until June 15, water is likely to be available for irriga tion until September 15. PVT. VAN KEUREN KILLED I ACTION Mrs. J. F.
