Brady' ten years my gues regarded with suspicion If not open re proach, but 1 finally gained the cordial cooperation of the Amer lean Medical Association and for a while we worked together in fine spirit until the advent of the Big Noise, who wanted to market a health column of hit. own as a sideline, so In due time the A. M. A. and 1 fell out and the official organ of the asso ciation even begun printing scur rllous editorial assaults upon me and my wretched column. All I know about the good or harm I do Is what 1 read in the many letters 1 receive from read ers. Obviously 1 can't assay the educational' value of the service by that test, for the daily lesson may do good or harm to thou sands who never wrile for every one who tells me about it. It would seem that health edu cation should be in the hands of the medical profession or specialists in that field of medi cine. But the traditional and now antiquated policy of dignified silence has fettered the medical profession until we have become almost negligible in health edu cation. For uiust of my life, for all of my professional lifetime up to a year ago I kept up my member ship in county, state and nation al medical societies and tried to be a good little boy. A year ago I got burned up about certain abuses in my county medical society, and quit in a huff you know me, all. Resigning from the county medical society auto matically terminated my mem bership in ths state medical soci ety and my fellowship in the American Medical association. Keith Argraves, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Argraves. now of Portland, related his many exciting experiences while serving as an unarmed medic with paratroopers In the North African campaign and of life In German and Italian prison camps. Cpl. Argraves told of the land ing in Africa and many details of paratroop work. He explained conditions in enemy prison camps and the morale of the prisoners. Argraves also praised the work of the Red Cross and told how the organization had saved the lives of many men in enemy camps. He was introduced by C. A Scrlven, Portland, who Is presl dent of the Oregon Seven-day Adventist conference. Argraves, who wears the presidential citation, two British citations, one citation from France, and the purple heart will report soon for further duty with the army.
