F UNO OVER QUOTA With three districts unreport ed, B. E. Harder stated today ' that Jackson county had topped the 1945 Red Cross war fund quota by about 140 per cent. ' The drive ended yesterday. Harder stated that collections ' In Medford amounted to $28,206 39, Ashland collections totaled approximately $10,200 and that ntilHa districts contributed $10,787. Gold Hill, Butte Falls and Prospect are unreporcea 1 The chairman stated that he had closed the drive offices in the Chamber of Commerce building and that any further ' drive business should . be taken ; to the Red Cross chapter offices In the courthouse. PFC. ROBERT L. STACY MISSING IN ACTION Pfc. Robert Lowe Stacy, in fantryman, has been reported missing in action since March 5 according to Information re ceived here by friends of the soldier's mother, Mrs. Dean Stacy of Seattle. Tha young man went overseas in July of last summer and was In action until November 10 when he was evacuated to a hos pital In England. He returned to duty Feb. 2, was wounded Feb 12 and hospitalized In Luxem bourg until March 1 when he again returned to duty. Pfc. Stacy graduated from Medford high school with the class of 1944. The Gentners have more than 200 varieties of daf lodils and more than 100 varie ties are now in bloom. Son Born A son was born to Pfc. and Mrs. John Sullivan March 30 at Salt Lake City. The Infant, which weighed six pounds and 14 ounces, has been named Claud Earl. Mrs. Sulli van Is the former Ruth Bride man of Medford. Pfc Sullivan, son of Mr. and Mrs J. E. Sulli van, 534 Hamilton st:-eet, has been stationed at Ft TVjglas, Utah, for more than two years. Ex-Medford Couple Hear Son's Voice On Radio Program A former Medford couple, Mr and Mrs. Larry Mann, of Port land, were thrilled last Sunday to hear the voice of their son. Lt. John F. Mann, who was on the Army Hour to tell of taking a boatload of soldiers across the Rhine river during the drive on Germany. The. Manns, who had no advance notice of the hrnnri. cast, heard but a portion of the program Dut are being sent a transcript, according to Portland news sources. An open house tea will be held tomorrow from 6 p. ro. to 8 p. m. Easier Pageant To Be Given By Methodist Young. The Easter pageant, "The Symbol of the Cross," will be presented this evening at 7:30 in the First Methodist Church. It is the story of a family living near Jersualem at the time of Christ. The characters are por trayed by the following young people: Abdiel, a carpenter, Larry Swarner; Patricia, his wife, Evelyn Modlin; Lois, their daughter, Thelma Loughary: Reuben, their son, John Ouster hout; Chloe, a maid servant, Iris Belcher; Caius, a Roman of ficial, Jerry fgo; and Phillip, a disciple of Jesus, David Chirg win. The pro perty was acquired ' from Mrs. Vinnie Cook. ' Mr. and Mrs. Bush and Mrs. Bush's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Christenson, own two residences on West Main street and addition of the Cook pro perty gives them possession of the entire quarter block between Newtown and Orange streets. Amount involved in the pur chase was not revealed. The sale was negotiated by the Spencer Bagley agency. Purple Heart Given Pvt. Cecil Rodgers Pvt. Cecil E. Rodeers of Butte Falls has received the purple neari ror injuries received in the Philippine Islands according to Information received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Rod gers of Butte Falls. A letter from the soldier stated that he had suffered a neck wound.
