And with that parting suggestion we bury the 1944-43 Medford bas ketball season. Coach Al Simpson said his Medford Black Tornado did themselves right proud in the state basketball tournament at Salem when they came out third best. He placed the blame for the 41 to 40 debacle at the hands of Oregon City on no one, ex cept maybe that Medford missed 13 free throws in that game. But Oregon City missed 11. Up-state papers criticised Simpson for using his second stringers in U three tournament games when opponents In each case closed in on Medford's lead. Simpson pointed cut that oppon ents also usee1 reserve; and said his boys were tired of the fast pace and needed some rest. He said he would do the same thing over again under the same con ditions'. Medford was definitely on the spot throughout the tourney. They took the only unbeaten "A" record into the meet, hav ing won 25 consecutive games. The Medford mentor said his club played in some tough luck against Oregon City with several nice' shots swinging out of the rim. Some of the larger cities, such as Portland and Eugene, just can't seem to stand to see Med ford have a good team. They don't like to see this little south ern Oregon lewn run up a rec ord and seemed to bubble over with glee when Oregon City eliminated the Tornado from first place play. Out of some 80 class "A" schools in thr state Medford proved herself to be third best vhlch can't be passed off lightly It is our opinion that Medford has nothing to be ashamed of In the record set by the Tornado team this year and should be proud of every one of the boys who played on the squad. There is no use now in feeling sorry that Medford didn't bring home the first place trophy. Let's forget the whole thing and point Ex-Local Resident Works On Plan For Kerosene Using Car Wesley A. .
