NEW LOAN PLAN To BOOST HOME BUILDING TOLD A new loan plan designed to stimulate home building and build postwar payrolls has been announced by the Equitable Sav ings and Loan association. The plan offers the longest term loan yet devised for the northwest at a low rate of interest, according to Clinton Spencer, of Spencer Bagley Agency, loan representa tive in the Medford area, who attended the association's two day conference in Portland last week-end to learn details of the loan program. The plan enables the family of moderate means to build a desirable home with modern conveniences at a cost which is in many cases lower than rent . and with ample provision made for the absolute security of the family to retain its home. Snen- . cer said that monthly payments include taxes and Insurance and will extend over a 25-year loan period. Interest rates automati. cally reduce to 3v4 per cent. Spencer said that one of the loan's features never before before available to the borrower is his privilege to repay the loan at any time. The age-old "mort gage fear" of not being able to meet payments by reason of un employment or sickness is also driven off by provision in the new loan for a six-month defer ment period after three years. Borrowers may obtain future advances for home improve ment. Interest Is paid only on the unpaid balance of a loan. As a home Is being built, interest is charged only as money is advanced. "The plan will probably bene fit the returning war veteran first under the Servicemen's eadjustment Act of 1944," Spen cer said, "although those who obtain building priority at once ' may use the loan. Most home owners must wait for wartime building regatlons to permit con struction. Adv. Leave Monday Lt. and Mrs. Ted Taylor will leave Monday for Vancouver, Wash. Lt.
