March 4, 1148 Society and Qubs Crqmer-Hoover : Rites Are Held At Local Church One of Medford'i largest early spring weddings was that of Miss ' Rosalind Cramer and Melvln ' Hoover, which was solemnized ; last Sunday afternoon at the i Presbyterian church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ! Wallace Cramer, 400 Maple Park ', Drive,, and the groom is the ,. younger son of Mr. and Mrs. C C. Hoover, Routs 4. . The ceremony was read at four , o'clock in the afternoon by the .-, Rev. Charles Calkins. A floral : arrangement of snapdragons and acacia with tinted tapers form Jed a setting for therldal party. : The tapers were lighted by Mrs i Maurice Sample, cousin of the i bride. Preceding the service Mrs. t Henry Huenergardt played i, "Adoration" and Harry Young isang "Bless This House," "Oh Promise Me" and "Because," ac ! companled by Mrs. Huenergardt ! "The bride's wedding gown was A tha traditional white satin fashioned with a neckline of seed pears and a long, circular train. J The fingertip length veil was i edged with lace. Her flowers 1 were a bouquet of whita roses ' and lavender orchids. Miss Cram- k father. !i Attendants for the bride were Mm rinnH Hoover, matron-of- J honor, Miss Jo Ann Adler, mald i of-honor, and tha Misses Dorene Fields and Gloria Jones, brides- maids. Mrs. Hoover wore a gown jj of blue lace and net arid the oth J er attendants wore similar dress il es of blue net. Robert Fowler, Jr., Eugene Thorndlke, acting for his son, l Sgt. William Thorndlke, and C 7 H. Herman, acting for his son, J Lt. Henry Horman, The soloist, jj Harry Young, sang for Sgt. Mr. and Mrs. Hoover left after the reception for a wedding trip k and upon their return will reside In Medford. J ! The bride Is a graduate of J Alexander Hamilton high school I of Culver City. Calif., and also attended the Romany and Le J Reu private schools for girls In j! California, She has been active H in local musical circles, I The groom . graduated from ' Medford high school in 1040 and f later studied at Oregon State i, college vhere he was affiliated ; with the college chapter of Phi t Gamma Delta. From there he j entered the army and was re t cently given an ' honorable dis charge at Ft. Bcnnlng, Ga. The r Hoovers have resided In the val f ley many years and the family is : widely known, Loyalty Circle f Plans Luncheon ! Con ger have returned to Medford after a wedding trip to the coast and have taken up residence at 831 Minnesota avenue where they will be at home to friends after Mar. 6. Mrs. Conger is the former Maurine Shearer. The S h e a r e r-Conger rites were an event of February 14, taking place at three o'clock in the afternoon in the Presbyterian-Congregational church at Corvallis, Ore. This date was selected because it was the 62nd wedding anniversary of the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Mar garet Stewart, pioneer resident of Lane county. For the ceremony the bridal party stood before a fireplace in the church chapel banked with daffodils, narcissi and heather. Dr. E. W. Warrington of Oregon State college per formed the double-ring cer mony. Miss Shearer's wedding cos tume .was a suit of sage green with brown accessories. Her cor cage was of green orchids. The bride's attendants were Miss Lois Lutz, Corvallis, who wore a brown suit and a gardenia corsage, and Mrs. W. E. Cald well wearing a black dresB with a corsage of gardenias. Both Miss Lutz and Mrs, Caldwell are Sigma Kappa so rority sisters of the bride and Mrs. Caldwell is also a sister of the groom. Dr. Cnldwell acted at best man for the groom. After the ceremony the bridal party gathered at the home of Miss Lutz where the traditional wedding cake and refreshments were served, Later Mr. and Mrs. Conger left for the wed ding trip to Oregon coast points. Both the bride and groom have many friends in Jackson county. Miss Shearer for the past three years, has been on the staff of the Rogue River National Forest service in Med ford and is president of the Business and Professional Wom en's elub, Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Shearer, well known residents of the Cottage Grove district. Mr. Conger, a son of Mr. and Mrs. H.'E. Conger, Route 2, has resided In the county his entire life, He is currently engaged in farming. Mr Pruett graduated from Medford senior high . chool with the class of 1044 and Is now an aviation radioman third class In tha navy He was In Medford on a brief visit last week and then rcnort- ed to a California naval base. N. Dakota Residents Are Antelope Visitor! . Mrs. Louis Greb of Antelope had as house guests the past month her sister, Mrs. Eda Mess ner and Mrs. Messner's daugh ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Prebe. all from Valley City. North Dakota. Mrs. Greb's daughter, Mrs. Frances Miller of Dorris, Calif., also spent a brief time with her mother recently The Dakota visitors especially enjoyed the climrte, Mrs. Greb reports, and plan to return In the near future for a more ex tended visit. Barbara Brayton Becomes Bride of Richard T. Nelson Miss Barbara Ann Brayton, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Ever ett Brayton, 314 Vancouver avenue, became the bride of Richard T. Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Nelson, Old Pacific Highway, at a service which took place Saturday, Feb, 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic church. Father Henry Orth performed the ceremony at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, baskets of mixed flowers providing a setting for the bridal party. Preceding the rites Bill Brayton, brother of the bride, sang '.'Ave Maria" with Miss Jean Denman at the organ. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white lace and net designed with a long train and worn with a fingertip length veil. She car ried a white prayer book with a white orchid and bouvardla streamers, Miss Monica Wilcox of Vancouver, Wash., was maid of honor. She wore a frock of ice green chiffon velvet and chiffon, a small cap of green velvet and chiffon, and pink fresh flowers and carried a nose gay of pink blossoms. Also in the wedding party were little Dickie and Karlyn Phalr, the small boy acting as ring bearer and his sister as flower girl. Karlyn wore a floor-length white organdy dress with blue trim and an organdy head-dress. She carried a tiny nosegay of flowers. Robert Holes, United States navy, was best man for the groom. i Present for the wedding were the bride's grandmother, Mrs, Ann Brayton of Spokane; Mrs. Luclle Wilcox, Bremerton, Wash.; Miss Louise Beinno, Kel so, Wash.; and Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Abbott and son, Robert, Brookings, Mr. and Mrs. Abbott being an aunt and uncle of the groom. The recaption was held at the Nelson home, with Mrs. William Nikolaus, Mrs. Abbott and Mrs. James Murray, aunt of the Driae, assisting at the reception. Later Mr. and Mrs. Nelson left for a wedding trip, traveling by plane to Seattle and from there taking a boat trip to Vic toria, B. C. The bride's going away costume was a three-piece rown gabardine suit worn with brown and shell-nlnk acces sories and a mink" scarf. She wore an orchid corsage. ine Dride is a graduate of St. Mary's Academy here and is now a cadet nurse at St. Jos eph's Hospital, Vancouver, Wash., where she will graduate In June. The groom, a gradu ate of Medford high school later attended the University of Ore gon and Oregon State college. He recently returned to this country after servine throe years in the South Pacific aa a pharmacist's mate first class in me navy and Dlans to Int.- .n. ter the University of Southern California to continue his med ical studies. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson have taken an apartment in Portland. Mrs. Gleason Arrives To Visit in Medford Mrs. T. H. Gleason and small son, David, of Portland, arrived here Friday and are guests ol Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gleason New Crater Lake highway. Mrs Gleason's husband, Lt. (Jg Gleason, a son of Mr. and Mrj Ernest Gleason, is now servinr in the Pacific area with the naval air corps. P.E.O. Anne Batsman, Jacob A. Corby Announce Troth The engagement of Miss Anne Bateman, 719 Bennett street, to Jacob A. Gorby, 245 North Holly street, has been announced by the couple. The wedding is plan, ned for next fall. Both Miss Bateman and Mr Gorby are well known in the city. Miss Bateman has been secretary of the Southern Ore gon Credit bureau for many years and is a member of Med ford Zonta club. Mr. Gorby is a long-time employee of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph com pany. Class Members Are Shown Film Members of the Mariners' class of the First Christian church were shown a film, "Ad ventures of Chico" at the meet ing of the class Wednesday nleht in Fellowship hall. Several guests were also in attendance. Host for the evening were Mates Al. and Ethel Boese. Medford Residents Leave for Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Earl York and Mrs. Ed.
