When I've talked with war
workers who have come here
from the East, I've always as
sumed they were glad they had
escaped the extremes of heat
and cold of that area. It never
entered my head they actually
could get homesick for those
very conditions. So a recent let
ter from an" Eastern woman
come West, was very revealing.
Of course the fact that she was a
farm woman before coming here
to work in a war plant may have
something to do with her atti
tude. She says she misses the sharp
ly defined seasons of the East;
that in colder climates, Spring
brings a resurrection to all
things; especially to trees; trees
seem to have a heart-beat whicn

misses the fragrances of newly
plowed ground which are so
