TWO MEDFOHB MAIL TRIBUNE Wednesday, Ttb. 28, IMS NAME DIRECTORS 1 Organization of the Southwest Oregon Dairy cooperative was completed at a meeting of Jack ton county dairymen yesterday at the courthouse auditorium nd a board of directors for the ensuing year was elected. Named to the board were Jewell u Lowe, Glenn Chase, Roscoe Rob erts, Henry F. Padgham, Jr., and C. N. Gillmore. Mr. Lowe, who pioneered or ganizational work for the new cooperative, opened the meeting, following a brief review of ac complishments to date of the county group, Richard H. Cron ehey of Los Angoles, represen tative of the Challenge associa--tlon, presented a comprehensive analysis of the cooperative oper ation of milk distribution and -processing. , - Opening of the membership 'books for' common stock sub scribers preceded the election of directors. For the convenience of dairy men unable to sign the mem bership roll Tuesday, an officer 'Will be at the farm fair at the Central Point Grange tomorrow between 12 noon and 3 p. m.. it Is announced. Ho will have membership papers for anyone desiring to subscribe. The mem' bership fee Is $10 and owners of small herds as well as the large producers are cordially in vited to enroll, officers state. PARK SNOW DEPTH OVER LAST YEAR Snow readings taken on the Annie Spring course In Crater Lake National Park Feb. 28 are somewhat above the same pe riod last year according to a re port issued by E. P. Leavltt, superintendent of the park. The snow pack on that date was found to be 72 inches with a water content of 24.2 inches, or 33.6 per cent of the snow on the ground, the report shows Last year the measurement was made on March 1 at which time the snow depth was 63.9 inches with a water content of 21.7 inches, or 34 per cent. The February measurement also was considerably higher than the January figures which showed a snow depth of 38.9 In ches with a water content ot 13.4 Inches or 34.S per cent. Measurements were taken tiy Bob Stevens of Medford, Robert G. Briscoe of Fort Klamath and Cpl. Harold Chavis. The trip is made on skis after the snowline Is reached. Cpl. Chavis is ski Instructor for the marine corps at Klamath Falls. WATER OUTLOOK EASEDJY SNOW Irrigation prospects for the Rogue river valley were slight ly brightened by snow that fell aenerally Monday and yesterday over the hill areas. Five and one- half Inches ot new snow fell at Fish Lake, telephone call to the Medford Irrigation district today reported. The caretaker last week visited Four Mile lake, and found 43 Inches of snow. It is believed the storm Increased snow depth there. Two inches of snow feu in tne Upper Applegate district hills and in the Siskiyous. Snow was reported from Butte Falls, Dead Indian and Prospect areas. Irrigation district records show some of the heaviest snows of winter come in March.
