An irate Lou Novikoff today
served notice on Los Angeles
baseball . club president Don
Stewart he'd quit baseball before
he'd report to the Angels, who
acquired the colorful outfielder
from the Chicago Cubs.
"I can't understand that deal
and I don't like it. I know for
sure that other National League
clubs wanted me, so there's
something fishy about the Cubs
not trading me to a Major Lea

"I've been sold down the river,

Chances Of Coast
Playoff Doubtful
'BY United Presa
Every day tha odds become
slimmer that tha northern di
vision champion, whichever one
of three teams it turns out to be
will play UCLA, tha southern
champion, for the Coast Confer
ence basketball banner. The
Bruins have lost BUI Rankin, the
team's spark plug and would be
considered foolish to risk a title
certainty for a title possibility
At tha same time their Friday
night meeting with Southern
California is expected to be one
of the dullest of the season, with
neither team especially interest
ed. It's all anti-climactic.
