Arriving Today Frank Dix on, who has Just completed navy radio material school at Treas ure Island, will arrive today to spend a nine-day leave with his mother, Mrs. Helen Dixon and his grandmother, Mrs. Katherine Walt, 828 West Tenth street. He reports next to Shoemaker, Calif. Walker on TSC James E. Walker, former Medford resi dent, is now on temporary ship's company and is In charge of the transportation section of the dis bursig office. During January he spent a six-day leave with his wife and children in Gutherie Center, la., and also visited his brother, Lt. John V. Walker, and wife in Washington, D. C. Youth Missing Mickey Geary, 18-year-old youth from Trail, has been missing from his home since Thursday, according to a report to local police by the Juvenile officer. Clad In over alls and a blue sweaterhe had $4 on his person when he dis appeared, officers said. Young Geary la five feet nine inches tall, weighs 197 pounds and has brown hair, the report stated. The lad had not been located by Saturday afternoon. - . Embarkation Leave Charles E. Hlnkle, S. Se in the Seabees, Is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mm. T. D. Hlnkle, at the family home, 713 Oak street, before re porting td his base near Los An geles, Feb. 23, for embarkation. He entered the navy last Septem ber and completed boot training at Farragut, Idaho. In January ha was assigned to the Seabees and until recently was stationed at Ban Diego, Calif. Hlnkle at tended Medford high school be fore enlisting at the age of 17. Back to Police Force Orlan do MacKinnon returned to his post on the state police force in Medford a few days ago after an honorable discharge Feb. 12, from the marine corps. MacKin non was a captain In the ma rines, serving with a shore po lice unit in California for two and a half years, Before entering the service he had about 11 years' experience with the state police. He Is making his home with his wife and family at 830 Bennett street. Return From Arlsona Staff Sgt. Arwood K. Morse with his wife and young son, Kenneth, ar rived In Medford a few days ago from Douglas, Ariz,, where he has been stationed with the air corps. Mm. Morse and their son will remain here through the summer at their home. 34 Van couver avenue. Sgt. Morse, on furlough until March 1, will re port back to his base at Douglas. He enlisted In the army more than two years ago. The couple have been residents here the past seven ycara. Bon Promoted First Lt, Les ter E. Scott, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Scott of Central Point, was recently promoted to that rank. Lt. Scott, former employe of California Oregon Power com pany and later manager of Mountain States Power company at Whltefish, Mont., also has re ceived the purple heart and sil ver cross. Permits Granted The city superintendent granted a build ing permit today to Van Galder & Sons, 320 East Fourth street for the purpose of building an extension to their garage at an estimated cost of $2,000. A. L. Unger, also received a permit to remodel and move a garage at 312 Haven street at a cost of about $380. e USO Meeting Today Repre sentatives of the program plan ning committee of Riverside USO are to meet at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the club. Mrs. C. A. Meeker and Mrs. Frances Simcox will represent the senior hostess group; Mrs. Sue Braun and Miss Melva Morrell the junior hostesses; Sgt. Dave Mac Gulre and Cpl. Johnny La toff for the airbase and Sgt. Bill Blading and Pvt. Stanley Sto lowsky from Camp White. Huson Leaves Sgt. Roy L. Huson will leave today for Santa Barbara, Calif., where he will report for reassignment. Sgt, Huson has been In Medford for 21 days after serving 34 months In the south Pacific with the 41st infantry division. He wears the combat Infantryman's badge. The sergeant's brother, Cpl. Ray Huson, recently left the Philippine islands for an un known destination. Both young Lozier Lane. Joins Husband Mrs. ..B o b Young, .Joined her husband, Capt. Bob Young, in San Fran cisco several days ago where he returned from 16 months' duty in the south Pacific as a marine pilot. The couple re mained at the Sir Francis Drake hotel for a few days before go ing on to San Diego where Capt. Young was to report. They are expected home in Medford some time over the week end on a fur lough. Young is the son of Mr. Harvle Young, 813 Beatty street, and his wife is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. The couple plan to return to Arizona the middle of this week. For they are coming back to America at the rate of 1,000 a day I And unless something is done, these men may not get enough proper care. Their need is so great But the help, to date, has been so shamefully small. At the moment, each Army nurse in this country is handling more than twice as many beds as any person is cfliciently able to handle. The country is doing everything in its power to recruit more nurses. Bui at the same rime a vast effort must be made to stretch the professional usefulness of every single Army nurse on duty in the United States. This is why Wacs are needed to help note. More than 8,000 Cacs are needed immediately in Army General Hospitals in the United States to help Army doctors and nurses in their tremendous task. Previous experience, is not necessary. Any woman aged 20 to 49 inclusive uu'rh two years of high school (or the equivalent schooling) may apply. If yon meet enlistment requirements, you will be given basic training before being sent to a recognised Army Medical Technician School. After six weeks of technical training, you will be assigned to an Army hospital, where you will have four weeks of additional on-the-job-training.
