Hutter, first com mandant of the Camp White Station Hospital, have been in formed that the officer is seri ously ill in Hoff General hos pital at Santa Barbara, Calif. Col. Hutter went to Washing ton, D. C, from Medford and later was transferred to the Santa Barbara hospital. Cancel Meeting The mer chandising meetings planned for San Francisco this month have HUfcan cancelled according to a 4iire from C. T. Tanner of the merchandising department of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce to the Jackson Coun ty Chamber of Commerce. The cancellation was made at the request of the Office of Defense Transportation. Correction Charles A. Wing Is a patient in Community Hos pital Instead of Sacred Heart hospital as previously stated, Mr. Wing is in the hospital for a rest and check-up and is not seriously ill. King of Jacksonville Phoenix Road, left Medford Wednesday for Glendale, Calif., where they plan to make their future home. They were own ers of the Kingmere Guernsey dairy here until recently. Fined In Court Lester E. Madden, 20, was fined $10 in local court today for disorderly conduct. John T. Woods, charg ed with drunkenness, forfeited $10 bail for failure to appear in court today. Leon B. Smith drew a $10 fine for being drunk in a publio place. Fire A short in the wiring of a showcase at Taylor's Penny-Wise drug store at 323 East Main street shortly before 6 p. m., yesterday resulted in a small fire extinguished by chem ical equipment from the fire de partment it was reported today. Only damage was to the trans former itself, according to the store owner. Home- From Army Sergeant Andrew W. McQuat of Ashland, who entered the army in April, 1942, was honorably discharged from Fort Lewis Separation Center January 23, according to an army release. He returned here this week. McQuat was at tached to an MP detachment at Camp Beauregard, La., before discharge. He is a brother of Mrs, Jane Llyiard of Medford. Reunion For Brother i Arohie L. Kitchen, Jr., S2c in the navy, has been enjoying a reunion with his brother. Max Kitchen, also home from sev eral months South Pacific serv ice with the merchant marine. They are at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Kitchen, Sr., in Jacksonville. Archie Kitchen is stationed on an aircraft carrier escort ship and returned from the Hawaiian islands recently. He has been in service year and received an emergency 15-day leave to see his brother, Max Kitchen, during his 30-day shore leave. Max Kitchen, who has been un der fire on Guam and Saipan, is a boatswain mate 2c. He reports to San Francisco for further duty Feb. 10 and his navy brother leaves today for Brem erton, Wash. Car Wreck Cars driven by S. M. Croucher, Route 2, and Jefferson L. Dennis of Tiller met with a minor accident Wed nesday afternoon at Bartlett and 5th street, according to traffic reports filed with local police Thursday. Neither party was injured the report said. . Lewis, former navy man, has been honorably dis charged from the U. S. Navy hospital at Farragut, Ida., ac cording to information received here today. He returned to his home at 638 Pine street this week. Before entering the serv ice he was employed as a fire man at Camp White. Six Join Navy H. Price Shafer and Charles E. Rundell were inducted into the navy at Seattle, Wash., January 27, lo cal draft board No, 1 reported today. Inducted into the navy at Ft. Lewis, Wash., from Jack son county board No. 2 were Robert Edmund Gadbois, Vol ney Merl Brock, Delbert Carlos Lee and Jack A. Shaffer. m Ashland Boy Home Pfc. Weldon T. Heard, honorably dis charged earlier this week from Fort Lewis Separation Center, returned to the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Heard at Ashland yesterday. Heard was a member of the enlisted reserve corps called to active duty in November, 1943, and served in the 341st Infantry regiment at Camp Livingston, La., prior to leaving the army. He was a visitor in Medford this week. Family Reunion L. C. Tay lor of this city will leave today for Olympla, Wash., to meet his son, Lieut, Ted Taylor return ing from extended overseas service. Ho will be accom panied by Mrs. Orva Taylor, wife of the lieutenant. The par ty will return to Medford where Lieut. Taylor will spend a 30 day furlough with family and friends. He was a member of the 41st division, attended offi cers training school in Australia where he was commissioned, and has since served with an other division in the Leyte in vasiorf. t Bruised In .Wreck A.
