i LOCAL and On Furlough Marine Ser geant George H. Wilkinson, 25, son of Henry L. Wilkinson, recently returned home on fur lough after 29 months in the Pacific. He last saw action in the Salpan Tinian campaign with the second marine division. Mar shall has just been graduated from radio school of the AAF training command at Scott Field. 111., according to a release from the field. Pfc Marshall a grad uate of Medford high school and the University of Oregon, was high school teacher before en tering the service. His parents. Mr. and Mrs. Vern B. Marshall, reside In San Carlos, Calif., and his wife makes her home in Medford. On Leave Roland Wicker, a fire controlman 2c in the navy has returned to Medford for a 10 day leave after six months in the European theater of op erations. He Is visiting his wife and children at their home, 606 West 4th street until Sunday. Wicker is the son of Mrs. James A. Wicker, 1 Adams lane, and lived here several years before entering the navy In Ocober '42. On Honor Roll Miss Ilene Clausen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Criffin of 1008 South Holly street, earned the distinc tion of being on the fall honor roll of Marylhurst college, near Portland, a news release from the school states. Miss Clausen, a freshman, is an active member of Delta Theta, a dramatic so ciety at the school. She gradu- t ied last spring from St. Mary's Academy here. Utah Visitor Corporal Dean Z. Wallace of Logan, Utah, is a visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ish, 205 South Holly street for about 10 days. He was attached to an army en gineer unit in the Aleutian Islands for three years before returning to the states several months ago. At present he Is assigned at Dugway Proving Ground, Tooele, Utah, in the engineers. V . Plan Open House Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Brennesholtz are holding open house Sunday, Jan 21, between the hours of 2 and 5 p. m. at their home in the Table Rock district. 'Friends and neighbors are invited. The open house will celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of the couple and mark their departure from the Table Rock district. Mr. and Mrs. Brennesholtz will take up residence on Arnold Lane In the near future. (U.R) Madame Feng Yu Hslang, wife of the Chinese "Christian Gen eral," reported to Chungking's YMWA todny on her return from the Kwangsi-Kwelchow front in south China that 10,000 of 40.- 000 civilian Chinese refugees in the area had died of starvation. She said she saw a "sea of hu man heads" struggling along the Kwanesi-Kwelchow road as the Chinese still fled from the now stemmed Japanese offensive that once threatened to engulf Kwel chow province and the communi cations center of Kwellin. THE GRANGE Lake Creek Grange Lake Creek Grange met in the first session of the new year, with Worthy Master Lloyd George presiding. Tom Stanley, on the special basement, committee, thanked all the members for their help In completing the work on the basement. Thanks are especial ly due two of new members, Chan Stokes and Harve Strahm. Mabel Stanley, chairman of the H. E. committee, reported on the last dance. Funds from the dances have been the main factor In making the basement project possible. The members were happy to receive, the greetings from Myr tle Charley. Myrtle and Reed Charley are at Carlsbad, Calif., visiting their ' grandson and daughter. Our new worthy lecturer, Ozie Burrell, had prepared a very interesting program. Ma bel Brown read an article on electricity. We are in hopes all our homes here will be electri fied in the near future. Joan Damon sang and played her own accompaniment.
