forces, the "know how" of
American fighting men and the

Capt Sleeter addressed the
Medford Rotary club Tuesday
tt the Hotel Medford, giving
highlights of the earlier cam

Lt. Ingraham Back
From Conclave On
Service Proposals
Lt.' Aida Ingraham. Wac re
cruiting officer for the Medford
area, has Just returned from a
three-day conference in Portland
where, she said, one of the main
topics up for discussion was the
proposed new service act that
will draft both men and women.
Lt Ingraham also said that
the grave and acute situation on
the western front caused the
war department to issue a na
tionwide appeal for more wom
en to Join the Wac and an
nounces continuation of recruit
ing for 1945 with emphasis on
obtaining trainees for hospital
Jobs. She pointed out that acute
manpower shortages, increased
Job quotas and high casualty fig
ures were responsible for re
sumed emphasis on Wac recruit
ing.
"The shortage of hospital tech'
nlclans has assumed a situation
of such gravity," Col. Harry
Lawton, in charge of recruiting
for 9th service command, re
ported, "that special emphasis
should be given to recruiting for
army medical department and
qualified women will be given
thorough but speedy condensed
specialized training before being
assigned to army hospitals,
where they will participate in
the army cast program for the
rehabilitation of our battle
wounded men."
