PAUL BULKIN HAS
BRUSH WITH TRAIN
Paul G. Bulkin of route 1
was approaching the railroad
crossing at West Main street
Monday morning in his automo
bile when his 3 Vi -year-old child
shouted that the door on her
side was open. Bulkin, having
already stopped and shifted into
second gear, quickly slammed it
shut and went on into .high gear
when he saw the Rogue River
train approaching, he told in a
traffic report filed today. He
stepped on the gas to move for
ward across the track to avoid
what might nave been a serious
accident.
The train engine struck the
rear left fender and body of his
car he said, causing only minor
damage according to his report
of the mishap. Train and auto
mobile were proceeding at a
slow rate of speed the report
stated.
Southern Pacific officials did
not state the amount of damage
if any to the train's engine.
