HIT HERETODAY
Ray Milland, Warner Baxter,
Support Star "Naughty
Marietta" at Rialto.
Medford's "neighbor," Ginger
Sogers and Ray Milland, who
haven't been seen on the screen
together since their hilarious
comedy, "The Major and the
Minor," have been reunited by
Paramount for one of its biggest
productions of this or any other
year ' Lady in the Dark,"
Based upon the play by Moss
Hart, with music by Kurt Weill
and lyrics by Ira Gershwin, the
film version of "Lady in the
Dark," is said to surpass in vis
ual beauty its stage sister, and
to provide for the talented Gin
ger and Milland another sure
fire hit. Filmed in glorious tech
nicolor, the story of the woman
editor of a magazine whose re
pressions almost wreck her life,
is told against a background of
dreams brought to life when
Ginger, who plays the woman,
is induced to visit a psycho
analyst. "Lady in the Dark"
opens today at the Craterian
theatre.
"Lady m the Dark" was pro
duced and directed by Mitchell
Leisen whose past hits have
proved him one of Hollywood's
top picture-makers. According to
those who have seen the picture,
cult production assignment is a
masterful job.
Departing from the usual
twin-bill programs at the Rialto
the single musical feature
"Naughty Marietta" will hold
the spotlight.

MASTER MAGICIAN
AT HIGH SCHOOL
TUESDAY EVENING
Thrills and plenty of fun are
promised when the Great yirgil,
world famous magician and illu
sionist, with his skilled company
of demons, ghosts and goblins,
brings his show of a thousand
wonders to the stage of the Sen

The Great Virgil, considered
the fastest and most mystifying
magician on tour today, presents
as many as nine baffling mys
teries in the course of three

Much Equipment
Starting with such feats as
snatching live birds and bowls
of fire and water out of thin
air, the Great Virgil goes swift
ly into the more sensational ef
fects of Death on the Guillotine,
the dissolving of the bodies of
two human beings, Chinese
opium den mystery, weird ex
ecution on Mars, and dozens of
others using tons of elaborate
equipment that will tax the ca
pacity of the stage.
Illusions and feats of magic
follow In such rapid succession
that the entire auditorium seems
transformed into a veritable
fairyland during the entire eve
ning.
Julie, the Great Virgil's lead
ing lady and heralded as Ameri
ca's sweetheart of magic, will
present two outstanding acts
during the performance. The
first a beautiful act of art and
the second her strange demon
stration of human television
which has puzzled scientists and
doctors all over America.
Special Scenery
Several special changes of
scenery, dozens of beautiful cos
tumes, special music and light
ing effects, birds and animals
and magic galore will be used
during the presentation of this
mystery production.
All proceeds from the produc
tion will go directly to the new
visual education department of
Medford senior high. Tickets are
